i think they dropped support for alpha due to lack of funding/hardware. i don't feel like digging through the archives, but if you take a little time i'm sure you'll find it.
there was a reference to that in one of the series. i think it was in DS9, but i couldn't swear to it. basically, Worf said that those particular people without ridges was something that is not discussed except among Klingons.
well, that's fine and good so long as you don't try to make it illegal for people to have those things on their personal computers and share them via the internet.
people should be free to distribute the source code to anything they want. i don't care if it is a virus. if the virus isn't active (as in, just the source) then why wouldn't it be free speech?
i've got cable here at the house (hooked up to all the computers via BSD-style NAT) but i keep hearing that DSL is better. can someone tell me why that might be?
it's not gonna stop me anyway. i made the offer before, and it's not going away anytime soon. if you want DeCSS or the cphack source/binary, send me an e-mail and i'll send you the IP of my anonymous ftp that serves it up 24/7.
what about the fact that this has NOTHING TO DO WHATSOEVER with linux? eh? cyberpatrol doesn't even run on linux? this is a free speech issue, not a linux issue. i suspect that this comment is a troll, but if it's not then you are grossly ignorant.
I kind of doubt it, but is elf merged in this release? The docs have said to use -current for a while and I suspect that means a patch-level release won't include it, but does anyone know for sure?
the impression i got out of the interview is that BSD/OS is going to merge with FreeBSD, with the result being FreeBSD 5. That makes me suspect that if one BSD is going to be assimilated, it's gonna be BSD/OS. i was afraid of the opposite until i actually read the damn interview...
obviously some politicians will be religious. there is no reason to think otherwise and no reason for politicians to not be religious. however, when making public policy, it is the duty of public officials to not let their philosophical viewpoints influence their decisions! when making a law that makes murder illegal (for example), senator smith should not vote yes on that law because the bible says so; he should vote yes because it is the interest of the public that murder should be illegal. this utilitarian sort of approach allows religion to exist in the private lives of public people without infringing on the rights of anyone.
you say that there are many religions in UK schools. i don't think you would enjoy this very much if one day your precious young one came home a convert of the very anti-thesis of your religion (you say you are christian, so let's say junior picked satanism). if they are allowed to teach many religions, how can you keep your children from deciding to be one you don't like?
...is that you push your own religious ideals onto others. senator joe smith may be a devout christian and feel that christian ideals should be promoted in his politics. senator bob jones may be a devout hindu and believe that hindu ideals should be promoted in his politics. etc, ad infinitum. this will only lead to religious conflicts (which is a touchy subject to many people). america was founded on the ideals of utilitarianism and fairness. there was a reason that jefferson and others strongly believed in the separation of church and state. after all, state religion is the original reason the puritans moved to america in the first place. the day there is a state religion in the usa is the day (if i haven't already) that i'm moving ANYWHERE there isn't.
it might be included optionally. the BSDs could distribute a GPLed jfs as an add-on like they do now (as in the ports directory). however, because of the license issues, i seriously doubt it could ever be the default fs.
some people complain about no GUI and all that nonsense, but give me a break. is it really such an improvement to see gtk+ widgets as opposed to curses? besides, in my experience, GUI frontends tend to make things prettier at the cost of functionality.
if you look closely you will find that you can use gcc to compile proprietary code without fear of being forced to release it. most of the standard libraries are going to fall under the LGPL (meaning you can use them in proprietary stuff).

well, I have a static IP and I run a webserver, so that argument doesn't make me want to change. From what I understand cable is cheaper too.

i'd do it quick, before someone else takes your name too.
i have both cp4break.zip and decss on my anonymous ftp site (not listing on slashdot though). if any single person wants it, i will gladly give it.
Make it even harder for them. You don't have to actually use it or anything. Just keep a copy around.

check that out.
what school shooting happened in 1922?
shut your fucking face uncle fucka?
for instance, i'm using the emu10k1 module for my SB Live! and i compiled it separately (i think you have to).
is GNU/HURD to being as usable as linux?
honest question. i like the OO aspect of it, but last time i looked, it didn't seem like it was very usable.
i don't think ip banning will do the trick
