You have an incredible opportunity with the Enterprise television show to increase viewership, publicity, and build upon the foundation of the show through the use of internet technology.
Using Bittorrent to distribute Star Trek will speak directly to the technically oriented fans that value Star Trek. But, this isn't about giving away a valuable show, this is about seizing an unbelievable distribution method and boldly going where no television production company has dared to go.
Using bittorrent you can release official versions of the Star Trek show with built in commercials. How do you prevent users from editing out the commercials as Tivo does? A simple solution would be to put operational scenes in an overlaid box as the commercials run. This would allow commercials to run and reward viewers for watching them by providing interesting operational aspects of the Enterprise ship and its crew. This also in no way takes away from future DVD sales since the benefits of a DVD go well beyond the TV show itself.
I ask that you seize this unique moment in a ratings slump and use the technology that is readily available to reward the Enterprise fans with a new viewing option and to bolster the viewership of an outstanding show.
