"The continuum of good versus evil is broad and subjective. That evil which is done today may turn out to be beneficial in the long run. That good which is done today may turn out to foster future evil!"
I'd say this is good in the context of good/bad, as in positive/negative, which you judge by the outcome of an actions (which yes, is relative to the point you measure positive/negative effects). However, good in the context of good/evil, is measured by the intention behind an action, not the action or the results (which may or may not work out as intended).
For example, if I give someone a rope that at some point they trip over and hurt themselves, the outcome may be negative (bad), but whether my actions were good or evil comes down to whether I gave the rope to make the person trip. They're two different axis.
Liked the start, but then was a big flaw, and everything from then was built on that flaw.
"Mortal (in great relief): Oh, please! Spare him from having to have free will!
God: All right, I'll do as you say. But you do realize that this new you without free will, will commit all sorts of horrible acts."
Why would it commit horrible acts? This isn't truely explained, and later contradicted in saying that angels have no free will but are pure good... so if lack of free will doesn't make you evil, why would this free-will-less being be evil?
Wrong. That's statistical evidance, which is pretty weak and anybody who's studied statistics will know (or anyone who's seen the phrase "there're lies, damn lies, and statistics"). What you infer through statistics could have a very strong chance of being true, but induction cannot be said to prove anything, other than someone's ability to generalise.
And they're having fun. Sometimes I feel like the only person on/. who sees the importance of that. Even if they finished with "Well we didn't manage to make any technological breakthroughs, but it was fun all the same"... good for them. It does look fun.
That's so boring. They're having fun, some people like to squeeze a little of that into their lives. If you want a competition like that, start one yourself, otherwise, don't complain that no one else is doing so.
"that this was a circular course, that makes for a race track that is down hill all the way around!"...either that, or the 1% uphill bit covers more area than the 7% downhill bit???
Swap the word 'particle' for 'packet' and it's often easier to understand. It appears as though it's a partical because they are of fixed units (1, 2, but never 1.5). So in effect, it's a 'packet' of energy... the energy travels in packets of set sizes, so it looks like particles, but it's not. The packet of energy may spread out as it travels, but it's still the same packet.
Except that HIV actually attacks the immune system... but a similar virus, that attacks something else (maybe something useless like the appendix?), but has the poor copying mechanism that makes HIV so difficult to kill, could perhaps serve that purpose rather well!
Some people use their computer for the applications, not for the OS. The OS is there to support such apps, not dictate what you can run. Stuff that runs better under Windows, I use Windows for, and stuff that's better under Linux, I use Linux. It's called being pragmatic, you may need to look up that word.
I notice that you're being forced to post on slashdot because about:blank doesn't support posting messages.
This looks like a load of huff about nothing. Loading such a module requires root access, but if you've got root access, you can put code into the kernel yourself, you don't need parallels installed for that. If you can insert this module and "exploit" it, then you may as well just write your own module and insert that.
"Is "the sugar thing" is in reference to my "sugar pills"?"
No, just pointing out another mechanism through which fluoride can affect energy levels, weight gain etc, one being through the iodine replacement in the thyroid, and the other being through insulin receptor antagonism. Iodine suppliments may help with the first, but I'm not sure what you'd do with the latter (other than try decrease floride intake of cause).
Couple of points with you experiment - firstly, you'd need to be taking your vitamin/sugar pill for a period of time before switching to the other (eg, two weeks on one, then maybe a week without, then two weeks on the other. Compare weeks, then reveal which was which). You'd want to keep as many other things constant as possible during the periods, if your diet alters, that could skew your results. Also, when taking dietry suppliments, you're usually better of taking them with food, so your body produces the enzymes required to properly break down and absorb them (doesn't matter how many vitamins you take if your body's not absorbing them). You've probably covered these anyway, but in case not, there ya go.
Steal from the rich, give to the poor?

Nice try tho.
"Secondly, theories should be kept as simple as possible - I think this originates from Albert Einstein, but I have forgotten the original quote"
Most famously attributed to William of Ockham:

Yes, I already have... can you prove I didn't?

:-p
You wouldn't drive for 7 days straight, you'd have to be pretty wired for it, at least

How does football help the industries that sponser it? Kicking some inflated rubber around on some grass doesn't improve mobile phone service.
It's a competition. Where your sense of spirit?
it would be disqualified for using alternate forms of propulsion.
they don't have to buy a more accurate stop-watch :-p
thank's you ;-)
(what you have to remember, is that he's on a 300baud modem, so all those extra "'"'s (hehe) slow it right down!)
Wow, at that speed, it would take you nearly a week to get through the gallon!
No, I meant "it is", duh.
Wonder what speed it travels for it's optimal fuel consumtion

"what practical application could this have"
Occording to TFS:
"and is expected to be of use in nanoelectronics, calibration devices, quantum computation and biology"
So are you actually asking why any of those would be useful?
You changed the results my measuring it!
