Only the most tortured, ridiculous distortion of reality could support this kind of a claim. Here's how an actual logical analysis of the cause of the Civil War would work:
During the 20 or so years preceding CW, the primary dividing line between political parties was whether or not new states entering the union could be slave or free states.
During the 1860 election, a President representing the pro-abolition party was elected Immediately after that election, Slave states began to secede from the Union.
Ergo, the cause of Secession was Abolition, ergo the cause of the Secession was slavery. Without slavery, there would have been no political division between Slave and Free states, and therefore no reason to Secede.
To keep the union together, Lincoln then initiated the Civil War, which can then be said to have been primarily caused by, and fought about, Slavery. The easy way to check the reality of this conclusion is to imagine if the Civil War would have ever happened without it.
PDF is, however, not a web medium. PDF is a medium that is designed to be downloaded and later printed off,

Because Adobe, maker of crap technology, has just bought a wonderful technology, and it's highly likely that they will ruin that technology with whatever toxic corporate mentality they try to graft onto it.
That's the second time someone has recommended that to me. That, however, is a function of Adobe's shit design of the reader, and as an end-user of their product I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FUCKING DO THAT! And certainly if I am distributing an important document that I want people to read quickly, I'm not going to send along a little note to delete useless plugins -- I'll just encode my document in a format that doesn't suck ass.
There are no great expectations for this marriage, its just a strong player with a strong stock using it as currency to remove a competitor.
Well, that and PDF sucks ass. Flash is a wonderful web medium. PDF is a massive nuisance. Putting a document in a PDF is a guaranteed signal to me that says: I AM MEANINGLESS FORMATTING AND FLUFF. DO NOT BOTHER TO READ ME. I curse every time I accidentally click on a link that leads me to some fucking PDF file, because it kills my browser, and I can't even switch to another tab to wait while the now proven-useless and boring shit loads.
It's hard to imagine, but I'm sure Adobe will load up new releases of Flash with meaningless bandwidth- and processor-gobbling horseshit and in the process ruin the greatest website in existence.
I mean, the way the system is setup now, it is really no different than that of the medeival age. The president is our king, Congress are the dukes, barons, and princes, and the Supreme court is the clergy (who are always reinterpeting our most sacred documents). Anyone who isn't a politician is seen as a citizen, to be taxed at the will of the royalty. I dare you to say otherwise.

If you feel that you are so oppressed by our government you are welcome to move to a medieval country where the King actually does tell everyone what to do and is not subject to removal by impeachement or held back by the need to compromise on his agenda by pleasing most of the people most of the time.
There are still some totalitarian regimes in place that function as you like to pretend the US functions. Why don't you visit one and find out, if your Mom will let you out of the basement long enough?
Your taxes can be seen as a user fee for Democracy. If you don't want a Democracy you can stop paying the fee to a government which you elect and empower, and move somewhere where you pay the fee or die to someone who is not answerable to you at all. In short, grow the fuck up.
Well, I'm not a gun nut, but at the risk of sounding like one, I think our rights to vote will be transferred when they're yanked out of our cold, dead hands. Eventually public perception will catch up with Gates, and legal or not this kind of tactic will backfire on him miserably.
And if he's not corrected in one fashion, or if he resists correction, a race to the bottom will ensue to see what the most violent way of taking care of the problem is.
