MS has had patents on FAT since 1995. Perhaps YOUR ignorance could be corrected with a bit more research. Continue on though AC, you tell me how it is.

Name your daughter "prostitute", and let me know how she fairs elementary and jr. high.
Names most definitely CAN play a VERY important role in a child's life.
Not the whoosh. The point you completely missed is that ANY filesystem could be gone tomorrow with no future support. And just like if MS were to tell you that you can no longer use FAT32, people would simply copy their data to something else.
To claim that MS would hold your data hostage is not only being a drama queen, it's outright FUD.
Blackmail? MS has been selling licenses for Fat32 for a LONG time. TomTom used the format very well knowing they were doing so illegally without paying a licensing fee. They were just hoping the patent will be invalidated like the FAT patent was. They lost the gamble and now it's time to pay up. Sad I get labeled a troll, but expected with all the zealots running around here.
Is your data SAFE in a non-Microsoft format? How's that new version of ReiserFS coming along? You're spreading the very FUD people complain about going the other way.
That sounds like a GREAT way to lose all market share overnight. "My old camera can load pictures to my laptop just fine, this new one doesn't work. I'm going to return it!".
If you honestly think MS is going to adopt whatever open source filesystem they choose, you're nuts.
Depends on what you're using vmware for. ESXi is free if you don't need it clustered (like in a lab environment).
A lot of shops want to standardize and that means they aren't running Xen in the lab and VMWare in production or vice versa.
50,000 emails. The app would choke and die every time I tried to open it... and that's not mentioning that it took several DAYS to sync the first time.
And how is MS to know the dll you're modifying isn't really being modified by a virus?
Or are you one of those clowns that complains about MS being insecure, then complains when they try to patch things up?
I have an iphone, fairly happy with it, but I have to say as often as apps randomly crash (mail app crashed 3 times today while typing an email), I wouldn't want to trust my life to it...
WAYYY too much excess crap on that thing in my opinion. Now if they created a custom OS and just used the iPhone/Ipod touch hardware, they might be on to something.
In other words, they're doing exactly what they did in Vista. Which, while a welcome change, the way they enforced it was moronic and irritating -- the app still ultimately requires admin rights, but now I have to click "Yes, I want to give it admin rights" five, ten, sometimes fifteen times.
In other words if the application developer does their job you'll receive at most ONE, and often times NONE of the prompts because they'll take the proper path and ask for minimal rights instead of being lazy and asking for admin priv's.
Don't blame MS for your application dev's failure. ESPECIALLY when you sound like one of the zealots bitching about their security track record.
Gee, I didn't know XP didn't have DirectX, or caching! Oh wait...
It has directX 11? Care to link to it, or are you just being an asshat?
Since this is Slashdot, it would help if you cited even a single enhancement or benefit that isn't already in XP.
Since this is slashdot he assumed the readers were informed on technology. Or at the very least, knew how to use google.
So having to change batteries, plugging and unplugging multiple cables every time you sit down is easier than plopping your laptop onto a dock?
How about extra ram in the dock? Extra pci slots? Don't forget that network cable that isn't included in your "three connectors". I also won't even get into how overpriced the apple monitors that even support this is.
Seriously... turn the fanboism off for just 2 seconds.
I went from a dell inspiron to a macbook pro. Do I like the macbook? Of course. Can it compete with dell's dock? Not even close. No matter how many excuses you make as to why Apple "doesn't need one".
Powercord? Monitor? Some of us also like our gigE connections and "wireless" doesn't cut it.
But I guess it wouldn't be very fanboi of you to admit to a shortcoming, would it? While I own a powerbook and use it for work, saying there's no need for a dock like dell provides for nearly their entire line-up is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
There's absolutely NOTHING Apple currently provides that comes even close the the ease of use of Dell's docking stations.
Right, and if you had bothered to read any one of a number of the comments above, or TFA itself, you'd know that due to NDA he can't actually post those numbers.
Insightful? More like "I'm too lazy to RTFA, so I post redundant comments".

But... but... but... they use linux! That means they're the good guys and MS is bad. Even if they really ARE infringing on MS's patents.
You're assuming none of those people have paid for a fat32 license. Microsoft approached the entire CFA about licensing fat32 in 2006.

VMWare's software implementation was FASTER than the first gen hardware implementations by Intel and AMD...

Outlook.
No, thunderbird is not a replacement. It falls over and dies with large mailboxes and last I checked, doesn't do any shared calendars.

So that's a case of beer for a days work? Or roughly $20 (for the good stuff)? And you think that's good? o.O
Not everyone is going to pay >100 USD/year for a subscription to play a game either. What's your point?

So take AF1 to a major airport in a nearby nation and take Marine1 to the smaller country.

My question is, was this another shampoo invention?
I see you've never actually used exchange/outlook, and were just looking to troll about something.
The "decline" button is there for a reason.
"I'm able to afford $5,000 in tuition and $500 in books, but not 3$ to do my homework" is going to fly for SURE.
