There is always a sweet spot that maximizes profit.

And yet, when will Economists & corps finally realize that to turn the maximum profit now, means destroying future "brand loyalty" and ends up being detrimental to your product in the long run?

Yes, to maximumize profit is the goal, but that kind of single mindedness will eventually kill a company. Why don't they understand this??!?!?

"We'll wait 2-3 weeks for the person who has a job instead of hiring the person who's available immediately because they're out of work." I totally agree, and the same goes for women. It always seems that women love to flirt with the guy who's hitched, but they'll never give the time of day to someone who's single. "He's single? Then there's gotta be something wrong with him!" Companies will look at you the same way.

It really shouldn't be seen as Anti-Americanism, but as pro-Frenchism (or as we call it, Patriotism).

The French are (notoriously) dedicated to the romantic notion of "preserving" the French culture from outside influence. No one can dispute that Google has HUGE influence across the globe, so I can see why they are so upset. They envision a large number of French citizens (who are also fluent in English) that will be accessing all this information instead of visiting the local French library/art museum/cafe.

Not that I agree with what was said, I just understand where it's coming from.

  7. Re:Accurate weather simulations?? on Humans are Causing Global Warming · · Score: 1

My opinions are based our track record.

We, as a species, don't know much about the weather/climate of this planet, and to claim that we can now "accurately predict" global climate changes (when these changes are by tenths of a degree) is really a strange concept.

Case in point, would you believe that we can predict climate changes when we cannot even accurately predict El Nino, which has a huge effect on climate?

  8. Accurate weather simulations?? on Humans are Causing Global Warming · · Score: 3, Insightful

I find it hard to believe that computer models can't tell me whether or not it will rain on Thursday, but can suddenly "absolutely nail" the predictions for temperature patterns of oceans.

When you have a country with this many lawyers, they will act like businessmen to keep paying the bills. A suit like this promises a huge reward for a settlement, so the "moral" or "rational" implications of their actions go out the window.
