Is there a reason we shouldn't use the full feature set of our processors? 64 bit Linux doesn't suffer from lazy third party driver support, unlike other operating systems.
So as long as some other people vote to ban my ability to read certain books, it's not censorship? Decency is restraining your inner fascist and letting me make my own decisions on what I will watch, but it's too bad it's not the prevailing standard.
If you need additional software to deny your applications socket connections to the internet, you've got a compromised system on your hands. Running at the software level, these "firewalls" are susceptible to being subverted by the same software you're trying to stop.
I'll defend everything about vinyl records except sound quality.
The maximum frequency response for a record on its first play is around 20kHz. CDs stay at that their whole life.
I buy records because they're cheaper, they're better collector's items, the artwork is bigger and listening is more of an "event". I don't pretend that introducing more distortion increases the sound quality though.
The boom of independent bands and labels is another driving factor.
I can pick up full albums on vinyl, for less than $10 direct from the label. I get a cooler listening experience and don't feel guilty downloading the tracks later for my MP3 player.
Why shouldn't corporations be able to contribute? I don't see anything wrong with it.
Let's put the blame for lobbying on the lawmakers who accept the money and then vote for laws that violate our rights. If big corn pays a guy to pass a law to give them an unfair advantage, the people who voted for it should spend 20 years in jail. Same goes for any law that gets overturned as unconstitutional.
Basically all we need is a script that checks what package manager you're using, and adds the 3rd party repository to it and then instructs the package manager to install the package. Someone could whip this up over a weekend. This is hardly worth worrying about.
Face it people, Microsoft has never come close to Linux on software installation.
You are the first breath of fresh air I've seen in these ridiculous comments.
All you other nerds can have my share of the bandwidth, I'll be too busy burying bodies in order to discourage vermin to check out the newest music videos on youtube.
What if Apple's contract with the majors restricts them from selling any music without DRM? Should they pass on the big four so that they can sell the guy next door's casio compilation without DRM?
I don't know man, have you seen their computers? What would you change about them? Might as well work on something else if you've got a wicked OS, top of the line hardware and good sales numbers.
Electronics project while at school. I think they'll eventually be published in Circuit Cellar, but I'll see if they're putting together a website or something like that.
It was all designed by them except for the physical motor. It would use lithium ion batteries for general use, but switched in the ultracaps for stopping and starting because the batteries couldn't take the current.
Nice on-topic sig.
Have fun transcoding your HD content to MPEG2. A better solution for your goal would be a real processor or a dedicated IC.

Let's keep in mind that both WMV and WMA have native, free software decoders available that don't require agreeing to Microsoft's licensing.
yeah dude, i just bought a second monitor and i have FOUR TIMES the desktop space i did before!
It's not so bad, my wine direct3d layer is faster than Windows' implementation now.

What fucking planet do you live on? This is slashdot and we know the difference between free and open source.

Nice work staying consistent by installing ZoneAlarm!
This is the best burn I've seen in a while.

Dude, where do live? Have you ever seen the people in America?

So, your OS needs a virus scanner?
I also fail to see how it's the first 3D desktop. OSX and Xgl/Beryl have been out for a while, dude.
They make Maya for Linux.
Amen.
This exact same functionality is _free_ under Linux, right now.

Yeah, well it seems the initial KVM test is a modified version of QEMU.
How do you like them apples?
