The EU is not a federal government. Although their laws are technically legally binding unless the applicable government implements their laws there's really nothing they can do about it (especially when it concerns one of the more influential countries in the EU).

NFSN is a good solution for a low volume site. I use it as my personal homepage. It doesn't get a lot of traffic, so the pay-as-you-go scheme works out a lot cheaper than any other host. If I were building a large, dynamic site I'm not sure it would work out so well.

You're attacking a strawman. I'm not talking about the overall high cost of premiums in the US, I'm talking about how some people, through no fault of their own, are totally unable to get health insurance.

Breast cancer treatment could be over $100,000. Finally, what about the people who don't plan carefully? Do they deserve to suffer and die because of their lack of foresight?

I agree on the second point, however I dispute the first. If the laptop is reported missing by the pupil it was given to then the school is well within their rights to activate the webcam. If my laptop were stolen would it be illegal to use the webcam to identify the thief? Of course not.

Before we all get carried away decrying this school district, we must bear in mind that almost all the information we have comes from allegations in a lawsuit. The school district are innocent until proven guilty as far as I'm concerned. I have no reason to trust the family's lawyer over the school district's superintendent. The only concrete fact that the two parties agree on is that the laptops have tracking software. The district says they've only used on stolen laptops, while the lawsuit says that it was used in a disciplinary matter. Time will tell which is most accurate.

    From Wikipedia:

Giant squid and some other large squid species maintain neutral buoyancy in seawater through an ammonium chloride solution which flows throughout their body and is lighter than seawater. This differs from the method of floatation used by fish, which involves a gas-filled swim bladder. The solution tastes somewhat like salmiakki and makes giant squid unattractive for general human consumption.

It's kind of ironic that Catholic Europe and Anglican Britain have ended up becoming some of the most secular places on Earth, despite having little enforced separation of church and state (indeed, the head of the Church of England is also the head of government in the UK), whereas the rigid rules of the US constitution led to possibly the most religious Western nation.

I'll give you the mini pricing issue. But Apple's mouse and keyboard and monitors are premium products. The 24" display is an IPS panel with LED backlighting. You spec a Dell monitor with that, and you'll get a similar price. And Apple's mouse has multitouch. Whether or not it's useful is moot point, it's clearly a more advanced product than a two button + scroll wheel Logitech.
