Actually, it is Americans that have DRUG problems. Americans cant control their habits. Why is it that Europeans can smoke socially, have a glass of wine and call it a day and people over here think they have huge problems? Furthermore, when fat lazy sports fanaticals over here in the US drive to their buddies house or the local bar, drink like a fish, eat a bunch of carcinogenic crap that should never pass for food and then drives back home impaired, its their 'god-given' right (or FSM-given right). Something doesnt jive here...
Dont even start talking about population. You think everyone should have 12 kids? Come on. The North American continent cant even keep up with all the atrocities we have done to it (40 hour work weeks dont help either).
Having made it through a couple of schools, one for undergraduate and masters, the other for a phd, in mathematics, I realize that most of the people that complain about how hard courses are are lazy, fat, tv watching americans. The year I received my PhD from the University of New Mexico, I was the ONLY american to do so. None of the foreign students had any problems getting their degrees, but somehow I was the only american student which didnt wash out of the group i came in with.
There is MUCH to be said for higher profile universities having shitty TAs teach all their courses while the Prof's travel the world chumming it with colleagues and working their tails off doing research. What should be said is SHAME ON YOU. People pay good money for a real professor to come teach their class, and I would feel like I got the shaft if I didnt get that. This happens most often at high profile universities. Dont want this? Then dont go to MIT or Berkeley etc...
A great education can still be found at the smaller colleges and universities. I know, I am now a professor at one and work hard at making sure my students get a good education. I guarantee you though, I still have alot of fat, lazy american students whining when they take Discrete Math from me. I guarantee you though, they watched all the latest reality TV shows last night though, and Leno or Letterman too.
Last but not least, sorry about any spelling and grammar mistakes, I cant stand proofreading these sorts of things.
