  1. If you dont see it... on Update on the Optimus Keyboard · · Score: 1

Those who dont see the innovation behind this idea are not seeing the possiblities. Imagine the OS being able to set the keyboard to the detected language for you, or having all of an application's functions appear/launch from the keys. Not to mention some of the other things you could do with apps that are running on the machine, such as keyboard layouts/schemes for games. Using a keyboard is by far faster than a mouse. There's a ton of great things that could be done with this kind of technology once it matures, in my opinion this is the future of keyboards.

  2. It's only a matter of time... on Leaked Screenshots Show Netflix Downloads · · Score: 1

I think with the advent of internet-ready televisions and faster bandwith to the home like FIOS, and something like this is only inevitable. Netflix is positioning itself to reap the benefits of the next step when home entertainment begins to converge.

In the future, video on demand will be instant, go straight to your tv, and you'll be able to create a DVD copy that's yours to keep as if you bought it from a store. I think it will also eventually be done at the same time with new theatrical releases. The same amount of profit from later rentals and purchases could be made at the time of release, so why not allow home users to purchase/download for the price of a ticket? This would essentially kill the video store market, but likely it will happen as technology moves forward.

Directly from my original post: "The competition uses the Turing Test to select a winner. So...they have been evaluated with the Turing Test." Nowhere within the post did I say anything about passing it.

I never said they passed the Turing Test, I said they evaluated them using it. You should read more closely before firing off some pompus-ass post. The bot that comes CLOSEST to passing it is the winner. The judges sit at a terminal with Turing questions and have to decide if they're talking to a bot or a person based on the answers. Btw, I'm far from a kid and I don't appreciate being insulted without a reason. Besides, you have no idea how old I am anyway, asshole. Have a nice day.

LOL Sorry, but more than one ALICE bot (which uses AIML -Artificial Intelligence Markup Lanugage) has won the Loebner Competition. The competition uses the Turing Test to select a winner. So...they have been evaluated with the Turing Test. Thanks for the BIG laugh I got out of your statement. Btw, I'm not sure what it is you're saying is free? There are several open source AIML interpreters.
