I don't agree with your points as I am a bit liberal on such huge sites and I better clear something since I am directly connected to some actor who is listed on IMDB site.
You can't post headshot of him/her even if you pay for it. It has to be done with his/her agency or the person him/herself.
There is always copyright involved in movie business, its one of the reasons. Photo is not a feature for fans, its for artist/agency.
First and foremost, FANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SUBMIT PHOTOS.
For People: You may submit a photo for yourself or an authorized representative may submit a photo on your behalf. Examples of authorized representatives include your agent, your publicist, your parent, or even a friend you asked to help you because you're no good with computers, just so long as they have your express permission. If you're submitting a photo for a person who is deceased, you must be that person's heir or have permission from their heir(s).
Universal, decided formats are mpeg 4 and its part, h264. MPEG 2 is very fine if you have 10mbit connection to internet. The most "complete" mpeg4 implementation I have seen (which is amazingly free) is 3ivx , its not a divx wannabe, its the mpeg 4 codec.
Nothing on win32 since windows 2000 can make a BSOD since they run in their protected space.
If Real networks died before iPod, you would be playing wma and wmv (IF microsoft allowed now but its a different story.
But keep hating them including 2002 (or 2001?) software brands from Real such as "realone", you will have your +5
Guys, H264 is already shipped and there are example videos at Apple. We, mac users were first to try it and people even running 2.3 ghz, dual g5 monsters lived what you lived trying to view vcd class mpeg on Pentium 75:)
That h264 will dominate since both competing blu ray and Hd DVD decided on that format. Add the satellite feeds, digital terrestrial TV too and you will really want something that does most of the work on gpu.
After seeing amazing quality and excellent compression, I am even looking for a chip based solution to encode realtime (amateur,PVR stuff)
What made me think is, the HDTV resolution videos with h264 did not playback very well. They playback fine if you close everything running as old days.
Looking to upgrade my nv5200 ultra whatever coming with my desktop g5 soon, I checked the "avivo" features. 10bit video per channel and 12bit per channel encoding are professional level stuff. ATI page about avivo (flash anim) promises native h264 support too.
As H264 is the new standard for almost everything, you should check if it really does what it promises. For 3d performance, if it does 30 fps in complex scenes in latest game built with ID software or Unreal (engines) I am fine with it.
Remember latest OS X and upcoming windows will do lots of stuff on gpu itself so you better check the 2d performance, support, acceleration too.
Its without Netscape 8 shipped for OS X, I think they should use Camino for OS X if they ship a netscape 8 for os x. Its pure native cocoa application compared to everything else using gecko.
If I understand why Google is not getting bashed for their practices right now, I will be really happy.
They have Ex NSA guy at their board, they buy CIA backed startup for "google earth", their webmail actually checks whats in your mail to display "relevant" ads, there is cookie with 2038, some scientology crap has happened already....
Imagine any other company doing these...
I also have a real problem with changing search engine defaulting google in all browsers including my paid browser. They simply help Google search monopoly without anything at return.
You should pray for Qualcomm's Eudora, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Entourage, Outlook death too.
So you are happy that a company with dedicated customers is out of business. Let me guess, those people happy with commercially, professionally coded program which has actual support won't go and install Thunderbird, they will look for another commercial solution.
I have seen Eudora managing 10.000 mails in a support center because of some bug at SQL database has diverted 1000 support peoples mail to single mailbox without a hitch.
You don't "need" to be happy for a companies death. Its a easy solution, you should ask the customers to read its manual as its an advanced program.
Well, Lotus got IBM, Eudora is backed by Qualcomm so they won't go out of business easily...:)
It got 3.8 rating from Versiontracker users which is really hard to get.
What do you suggest for people needing its features or happy with the program? e.g. I use Eudora here on OS X and waiting for its Cocoa release to buy, should it die too?
They support PDF so people won't "see" open/alternative programs. There are many people downloading open office/abiword just to print a word document. E.g., Mac doesn't have MS Word Viewer.
Also, this means end of their dreams for.doc replacing.pdf in specific purpose. Remember MS Word Viewer was also a IE/Netscape plugin working like Acrobat.
In fact there is a full office suite from Thinkfree recently shipped. Its pure java and commercial. I used their 2.2 version offline on OS X and Win32.
I work in broadcast industry and I am amazed you called Sony an "aging dinasour". After that point, I have nothing to say except China can't decide anything for consumer video's future. They may have 1 billion people+ but for example, average american buying/renting single DVD a week is more important then 50 chinese or others pirating.
Blu Ray is _already_ being used for uncompressed video (HD, SDI) in large studios btw.
I am more a home user which carries his professional video work to his house sometimes.
Now, if a multiplatform video package such as Avid Express works better on AMD, I will switch to AMD and naturally will run Windows whatever latest.
After their removal of benchmark results from their site, I have no trust left to Apple.
Speaking about pros which considered PowerPC OS X based systems, they now see no point of switching to Apple as it will run a Intel too. Remember we aren't speaking about geeks here. They can produce an entire movie in 12 hours using hundreds of effects but I suspect they care about the OS which it runs on. On a pro video workstation, you don't even see the OS desktop.
Blame them? Well they are the customers... Guy asks me (as I run G5) "So whats the difference between Mac and windows now? Less applications?"
As a G5 owner and also thinking about a dual g5 2700 or dual core systems if I am sure about Apple's stance I am checking PowerPC community except Apple which removes pages about how PPC outperforms Intel from their site lately.
As we (home users) figured after Mactel decision, Apple is one of smallest PowerPC customers on planet. Here is the PowerPC platform official page (without removed benchmarks:)) http://www.power.org/home
And I hope I don't see another story like that which will make me delete OS X and run PPC Linux...
Its a server centric benchmark and OS X produces very sad results. I just hope Apple workstation does not have similar disadvantages which will make Apple a waster of the architecture they bitch about lately.
Its not AMD versus Intel. Apple certainly lies about the real reason behind the switch to Intel.
What about performance per watt on latest announced FreeScale DUAL CORE CPUs?
Why people act like Java is dead on Slashdot? More Karma?
They coded a full featured IMAP4/POP3 client which becomes standard in India schools and works on everywhere.
Interface? Don't get me started about Yahoo and Gmail. For example, Yahoo must be the simplest pop3 server on the planet without any APOP or TLS options. I don't even hope for IMAP.
I already switched to Spamcop with 15 mb or so storage, at least they serve IMAP with decent spam tools.

The biggest surprise to me today is Salling Clicker 3.0 shipped for mac and.. windows XP!
:) If you want to keep a secret, you really can!
And I was in closed beta test for mac version.

(I still wonder how he managed to win against evil windows bluetooth stack(s))
I am _sure_ all big porn industry checking those news right now. Who knows? They may had a meeting with Steve Jobs about this already...
I bet they are already interested but Apple "image" won't allow Apple to open an adult store easily like Real Networks.
I bet the most successful part of "realone media platform" after sports is Playboy TV.
Its not just zealotry. Its one word: "Dolby". Also the "realaudio 10" is AAC too. Real gave up ATRAC 3 for it.
.ogg and I say that format is very good too but I have never met a "real person" saying WMA is better sounding than all...
I tested
I don't know who Microsoft carries those "blind listening tests" with.
http://www.realnetworks.com/company/press/index.ht ml --> They do real fine in their business, especially portable market lately.
https://helixcommunity.org/ --> They offer open source multimedia platform for free and they respect whatever OS you use including FreeBSD.
http://www.realnetworks.com/company/privacy/ --> They have well documented privacy.

There are people who uses AIM and ICQ, millions. Netscape IMAP free mail is a plus too (my $30 yahoo plus has only pop3).

People really like seeing their weather or get news in sidebar. "Commercial stuff" is not bad for everyone.
Check number 1 most downloaded OS X browser at Apple downloads, its at left column:

I guess ability to use IE engine is the real reason why HP could take such a decision.

I think Eudora would fit your needs. Its Cocoa version is coming soon and you would like its amazing set of settings.

It never failed here. It runs SDI way opposed to MDI while you can use it "tab like" by enabling drawers.
ps: Advertising supported but not spyware if you don't buy it.
Where that "hate" coming from? All I see is a $35 shareware email client http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/ 3046

I think whole .NET deal and billions spent to product/platform has one purpose: services.
.NET really becomes multiplatform. Well, their recent act against Mono guys explains a lot in this purpose.
You would wonder what would they do if

Well why does Apple give up PPC then? Freescale ships dual core powerPC chips soon. They are 32 bit.
G5 on laptop didn't happen, it could not happen or... maybe as IBM says, Apple didn't want them.
I am checking YellowDog Linux running PowerPC machines ( http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/ ) for my future desktop.
Games? Well PS/3 with Cell processor or a Xbox with a G5 variant will certainly make them better.
It's been 3 years full of sacrifices, nurturing of beer bellies, kaput relationships, horrible startup images, embarassing typos
