The code audit on true crypt produced less issues than the communities own bug fixes. It seems to me that the results of the audit support the million eyes concept.
American companies are scared their data might land in china and copied. This is only news in that the US is turning into the same crazy police state that we've thought was limited to china and north korea.
Public keys are public...
So if you can decrypt the data, you are probably using a public key.
Now if we used a public AND private key we'd be in business. Unfortunately, now everyone needs your private key; doesn't that make it public?
Just for the record, I may or may not use the plausible deniability truecrypt system.
I encrypt everything in my OS that is customized to me, and I encrypt all of my files.
It's piece of mind.
Sure it may have taken a day to setup, but I only have to set it up once...
But that's ok anon, go ahead and assume that everyone else doesn't have the intelligence to think ahead.
In the US couldn't she plead the 5th?
I'm betting its arguable that she would be testifying against themselves...
I mean, it's their job to produce evidence, I don't think they have a right to force her to help...
While I agree that everyone should have a high resistance to disease, it scares me to say that it is something we should all do.
What is to happen when we all essentially patch our immune systems in the beginning, and then have some equivalent of a 0day root execution exploit come out. We could have huge issues when no one can survive little things that could happen. I guess a decent example would be when a disease mutates in order to continue to survive (since they do mutate also ) and our immune system was strong against them in the beginning but now we are all screwed.
Bioterrorism?
Granted, this could happen with nature's own course, and our own mutations.
However, we have survived this long trusting nature's own fuck ups, let's not purposely fuck it up for profit:)
I know my school, for example only can block the live chat version of yahoo.
The only reason they could block myspace was because of the live chat.
Looking at the current way gmail works, I'm pretty sure they are too stupid to find a way to block JUST the instant chat (like they did with yahoo) without blocking the entire service (like they did with myspace, which wasn't a bad thing)
Seems, like I could have to move away from gmail, when they put this into use:(
On a side note, I'm betting I could EVEN MORE time on gmail now!
Look, The issue here is that linux isn't able to get the content. Regardless of whether YOU can get it, I can't.
As for the video being small? THAT *SUCKS* -- If they wanted to overcome the bittorrent downloads they needed quality that rivals that. Why would pirates *PAY* for something that isn't the quality they are getting for *FREE*
If this was a service for ipod, then why would they allow playback on the computer (IE quicktime)? If this were truely a service for the ipod they would have a proprietary format. Now you will say "let's build a time machine yipee!" -- but no, currently it's only availible to 5G users, so if it was gonna be for ipod users exclusively they would release another version and sell it for more ( YOU CAN PLAY VIDEOS! Give me more money. )
I dont' expect the actors to act for free, but I do expect decent quality video when I pay for something. Why would I work to get money, just to waste it, by buying a tv show that I have to squint to see?
"The advertisement rates for the slot would drop, creating less cash for the network and the show, probably causing the network to pull the show because it's not creating enough revenue." This is inevitable. In the event that TV cards didn't exist and the only way to get a show from itunes, it's obvious someone would just buy the movie, edit commercials, and bittorrent it out. If this is gonna happen, it is happening. Itunes won't stop that, and neither will providing legislation to end Bittorrent, there are far too many p2p protocols, and we all know that dcc WORKS!
o man, give me a break, *some* of you must know what dcc is.
Yup, this will work awesome!
Until virus creators / spyware creators / worms / trojans (blah blah) read this on slashdot, and reverse engineer it until they figure out how to distribute their viruses without being caught by the router...
I'm sure it's not far off, mainly since cisco is so large, so everyone will be implementing this soon

US navy has never had a nuclear reactor accident.
There's been a flux of "famous" players getting DoS'ed even in games with no peer to peer connections. Turns out it was skype.
Just because YOU never spoke to him personally doesn't mean the rest of us haven't.
I actually love my DAS so much I bought a second one for work.

Here's more information on Bar Karma - Just got posted officially it looks like. http://current.com/studios/
Next time I'm kidnapped; I'll be sure to start pirating music and movies. Maybe they'll find me!
Beat me to the punch. Nice try though OP.

Will there be enough room in the courtroom for his monkey dance???
ironic but true... Only in america I suppose.

RIAA has been curbing piracy for years through random lawsuits.
Empirically proven idea!
I don't think that's true.
If I remember right, Gentoo has a higher corporate advantage than Xandros.
Could be wrong, but I would consider gentoo a pretty tough competitor nonetheless.
NMCI is slated to be gone 2010(?) or 2011(?)
:D
Besides, there are still some operations running parrallel with nmci
Of course it's the most secure OS ever. There is no inertial reference frame.

Interesting how the favicon is the yahoo favicon...
Subliminal message?
FAR more interesting is the fact that they have a netscape logo as the favicon... Intersting...
