Is this as tightly coupled as this article states; or is this coincidential? I mean, I guess I get the push to Mac update - but c'mon, firmware patches fundamentally signifying a shift in cultural priorities....seems a bit weak tea, to me, at least.
I agree with the Steam update being important; it's the subtext that ain't resonating with me...
It's hard for me to tell if this is a different aspect of RIAA's disconnect with reality, or if there is really a fundamental disconnect of what the First Amendment is out.
When I was 25, I was also a manager.
Ok, so it was the night manager at the local Taco Bell, but that's the same thing, right? Did you learn Spanish on the bus?
Ok, here I go
- I think the fundamental problem is that the ones who make the laws are not necessarily held to the same standard; and although there seems to "token" attempts to demonstrate compliance with the laws they make, those who make the laws are really a class unto themselves. I mean, who else, other than someone who is self-employed can vote themselves a raise?
The elections turn a percentage of them over every couple of years, and the masses are briefly vindicated (alternatively enraged) - but we keep coming back to the the trough.
I really like the system that we have; but it is incomplete - there's still another set of checks and balances that aren't in place; and neither passing a set of laws, bitching about Bush/Kerry or voting Ralph Nader/Lyndon LaRouche (sic) will solve this.
So, I guess what I'm saying is, that instead about complaining about a situation that any one writes to this has effective ZERO chance of fixing (getting Bush out of office, turning down congressional pay raises, overhauling the US IP system) I think a better use of that energy is toward understanding and resolving the root problem. Until then, only the pundits and media (which is made of a un-surprising number of attorneys) will profit.
Just my two rubles....
This is a good test of how strong your IP belief system is...............especially if you hate Microsoft.
IHMO, some things should remain unpatentable....until both sides on the IP issue agree on that, the patent lawyers will continue to make everyone pay. I don't think case will be the one that does it either.
Yeah, I agree. Rarely in life are things that clear cut -- try and get the most you can out of the existing situation (ethically) while looking for something better -- the business will certainly be doing that doing that to you; and that isn't necessarily bad.
You also can get stuck in coulda-woulda-shoula; my opin is just try to id the clear cut mistakes and move on. Don't spin cycles on stuff you can't fix.
Just to adding my own uninteresting personal experiences:
I was in a horrible situation, stuck it out and got laid off.........but shortly thereafter got asked back due to a conversion that they needed me for, and *poof* I was in a position to ask for my package AND old job back...with a raise.....and then stuck it out for 6 months while I found something much better....everyone won.
I do have to admit though; handing the person who laid me off my resignation when they thought the whole thing was in the past was pretty freakin sweet. I almost did the icky dance on her desk.....
Donde esta el bano....
And sand. With oil. Recipe for world peace.

Can I am assume you are a software engineer?
No, merely a resistor
There's really no down side to this..if we can't bring them back, then then they can work at McKinsey or Bain.....
Skynet agrees.

Name should be Stromus Thurmondillis........can't assume it's dead because it stopped moving......
If only to pummel Tom Cruise with................
I promise not to use the word lawyer again.
