Most pop stars do not actually write the songs. They often have song writers do it for them. The stars may add or change the original a little. These pop stars often buy the rights to say they wrote it when they really haven't.
There is a long history of this in pop music. Elvis, The Monkees - many of these groups did nothing but sing what someone else wrote for them.
I have often thought about this late at night when I can't sleep. Sometimes I believe our society is getting dumber because according to the "guidelines" of the survival of the fittest the less intelligent and successful people in our society are the ones reproducing (successful being represented by both income and advancement in field). I consider myself upper-middle class and my wife and I have no intentions of having kids. Our friends at the same SES also have no intentions of having kids and I have read many reports that show that this is a popular trend. It is the people of middle to lower class with lower IQs and less successful that are the ones that are having four and five children.
It often seems like the people who are really changing ou society are the ones that are deciding not to have kids.
I believe that this is absolutely BULLSHIT! Human evolution has not stopped. This advanced medical technology is part of evolution and survival of the fittest. There are numerous examples of this! The process of developing vaccines and antibiotics for diseases is part of being the fittest to survive. This is similar to the control of fire. Our ancestors were able to use the fire to tenderize meats so ethey were easier to digest.
If you would like more examples of this please let me know. I would be happy to share these with you.
I teach at both middle school and a university. One the biggest things I notice is that most students do not have a desire to learn. They think of school as a sort of job training. To make matters worse, I am constantly hearing teachers reinforce that fact in young middle school students (e.g. "How do you expect to get a job if you can't divide fractions?")
I believe that our society plays a big part in this problem. Society tells us that learning is a means to an end. There is no end to learning. When I am interviewing potential teachers one thing that I (and many other interviewers) look for is a "life-long learner."
I also believe that these standards that we must all "teach to" are ridiculous. The good teachers have been using them for years without even thinking about them. Those that are taught to teach to the standards are only limiting themselves and their students. Once a standard is met too many teachers stop there and work on completing another standard when many students are ready to explore an idea futher. This I believe sends the message that "even though there is more to learn, there are more important things to be doing." Eventually, students recognize that the "more important things" really don't exist.
Role vs. Roll Perhaps you were the victim of a lower market value English teacher.
