If the Windows software you need is storing your data on the Windows VM, it really doesn't matter if it's running on your hardware or not. Assuming you subscribe to the belief that it's difficult to secure Windows, you would still stand to have your data compromised.
There's that and the fact that only 234 bills were tested. All from major cities? That's a horrible sample size. Based on that, the numbers appear to be grossly inflated to me.
Don't treat your backup/disaster recovery systems as any less critical than your production ones. I didn't find out anything about how their "backup" system worked from the forum post, can't think of a good reason to not lock things in both places or technical hurdle that would make it overly difficult to do.
Beta 3 has one new feature that I've been waiting years for - you can now type shortcuts in the location bar to reference installed search engines.
This has been in Firefox for quite some time. I use the feature on a daily basis in Firefox 2 right now. To create a shortcut to Google, bookmark the url "http://www.google.com/search?q=%s" and set the keyword to g in the Bookmark Properties.
Seriously, read the article. These people were actively molesting children and taking pictures of themselves while doing it. The pictures were turned over to the authorities.
I would argue that the concept of Free Software made more impact in the computing world than the Apple I & II.
That's a poor comparison. If we're talking about ideologies, then I would still maintain that the personal computer revolution had more of an impact on society as a whole than the free software movement.
It's like you just combined every Perl apology I've ever read into one place. ;-)
I think what you meant to say was, "At last the DOJ does SOMETHING on the merger front."

Seems like Thomas has a history of limiting the Fourth Amendment.
An ATM is not a desktop computer.
That's not completely true. For at least the last 10 years, most ATMs have been x86 boxes running OS/2 or Windows 2K/XP.

"The Open Source world needs to grow the fuck up."
Right, because no closed source development team would have an argument over a seemingly mundane UI issue. *eye roll*
