  1. The turn of events if ... on FCC Chair Says Broadband Top Goal · · Score: 1

Third party providers are not allowed to have access to the same markets as providers who own the wire: 1. smaller providers and possibly larger providers go out of business. 2. unemployeement rate goes up. 3. general prices for all internet access goes back up. 4. 'infrastructure' is expanded like martin say's it will. 5. because internet service prices are so outrageous people decide that they don't need to the internet to function in life and cancel their internet services. 6. innovation and creativity that the internet once produced is dwindled into almost nothing. 7. people start watching more tv or possibly even get off their asses and go outside. 8. the service providers who actually own 'infrastructure' lose their asses because they charge to much, because they have to off their debts and go bankrupt. 9. the new .com bust makes the one of '99 look mundane. 10. does their really need to be 10 reasons why this is a bad idea?

  2. One word: convergence on Vonage Testing Mobile VoIP Service Routers · · Score: 1

Many providers are looking to converge their separate networks into a single network that is cheaper to maintain. Mobile WiFi based phone service is just a step into that direction. Eventually, I see Cell providers switching to a pure IP based service using WiFi type standards. It's not here quiet yet, but it's coming. Has anybody looked into Flarion? (http://www.flarion.com/ I believe a system like this could be a step into moving to a pure IP based system. A local cell carrier has been beta testing flarion in my area for a while and some of the cities cop cars have had flarion systems implemented into them so that they can get more detailed information quickly to their cars. VoIP may not be as stable or as secure as a typical digital cell service, but the day is coming when VoIP technology will over take the typeical cell service because it's cheaper.

  3. Quantum Wires on Rice Contracted to Provide NASA's Quantum Wire · · Score: 1

If Rice suceeds at building this wire then it could revolutionize computers and other electronic devices as we know it today. We have just about pushed copper to it's limits as far as capabilities of sending electrical signals through it. Imagine integrated circuit boards being built with quantum wire instead of copper. We could get 30Ghz PC's instead of 3Ghz PC's. This could possibly the next big step in building electronics.

Right click on the network connection's local area network icon -> click on properties -> and select the advanced tab.

The GPL states that a person can download, make changes, redistribute, and sell a particular product. How does this violate the GPL? For Instance, If this violated the GPL than Trustix, Mandrake, Conectiva, CentOS, and many many more could have been taken to court a very long time ago for doing the exact same thing. The onlything CentOS got a slap on the wrist for was having the words "Redhat" in their code.
