Seconded on that, I live in a town of average Joes, I go to Averge Joe's House, and 9.5 times out of 10 their computer is inundated with malware.
Windows does not have enough default security for the Average Joe, No operating system does, But other OSes do a better job than MS does. Maybe someone should make a desktop distro that comes out of the box hardened and configured for security. The user will have to learn configuration to build the security down rather than up.
I have to concur with why windows?, Linux is lightweight and can do things that both windows and mac OSX cannot. Linux is also the perfect platform to develop on. Linux is also more customizable and tons easier to mess around with under the hood than either.

Why would you want to run the worst operating system ever on a mac? that just defeats the purpose. The only two reasons why windows is so popular is because:
1. most people do not no better.
2. games
Which are both terrible reasons for sticking to windows.
Now if i could get Mac OSX working on a pc....
And I am SICK of IE having half- CSS support. It is a struggle to contstantly hacking CSS to fit IE needs. I like my layouts to have some fire, some pizzaz. But if IE can't display CSS right, all my simple CSS ideas turn into ugly hacks so they display right in IE.
CSS 2 is flawed??? Since when is MS have the almighty power to judge W3C?? The Pot is Calling the Kettle Black...
