If browsers were coded to standards (cough*Netscape*cough) then none of this would matter.
The beauty of CSS is the idea that if a browser doesn't support it, it's okay, the web page is still functional. The problem arises when evil browsers like Netscape 4.x don't simply not-support CSS, but actively break it. In order to use CSS, and make truly cross browser sites, you have to use javascript and say, If (netscape 4.x) { use 4 year old html tech because the browser is evil }
Doesn't it seem kind of hypocritical to yall that, while at the same time we bash imacs and g3s for their crazy color schemes and toy-ish looks, that/. has million-reply news storys about cool/new/colorful designs for their pc's cases?
tho i gotta say, that keyboard/mouse sucks horribly. but that's what usb mice from logitech are for.

the correct solution is NOT to put everything in it's own table. The correct solution is to use CSS instead.
old browsers will read it just fine
new browsers which correctly support will read it just fine
middle browser, like ie3 and ns4, will see it like old browsers do.

They are just not afraid to state the truth.
Netscape 4.x mangles css driven web pages so badly that it ruins the web as a whole.
just use mozilla.
