But, why do we keep having to hear about this license isn't blessed so *everything* has to go. I understand Debian's & GNU's manifesto, but why are they mentioning it every time they speak in the community? We already know about it!
Red Hat doens't go around all the time saying that they like to make money to the community, to the shareholders maybe.
I get the same fuzzy feeling whenever I hear about OpenBSD. If it isn't a BSD license, trash it.
Just on a side note, is it because I don't understand the license thing fully that I can't get either Debian or OpenBSD to install?

I'm not sure how true this is.
My friend has a PS2 on a 64" HDTV, looks amazing!
Honestly, why would MS care what other companies thought of them. If this were Oracle or IBM do you really think that MS would try and help them out?
This whole DoJ thing is about compitition, if you were the CEO of a computer software company (For profit that is) would you want MS in the same ballpark as you. Get rid of MS and then the money going to them has to go elsewhere, ie your company
What you seem to be forgetting is that the way the DMCA is written, they can *legally* go after him. The fact that they don't choose to is from my opinion just a matter of time.
One pipe for all people paying.
yeah it does get slow, really slow.
there are times in the summer where having a dial up will be faster (I'm not joking!)
over all it's not that bad though
1. Write a library to make the code that is invalid in whatever Pascal compiler you want to use valid. (i.e. emulate missing built-in funcions)
I think that biggest problem that this person is facing is time, or the lack there of.
2. Automate translating code from one version to another. For instance, maybe the Sun Pascal has OO extensions, and you could automate translating the Sun object declarations to Objective Pascal (that's a language, right?) style declarations.
See above
3. There is surely a Free (or at least open) Pascal compiler that you could modify to compile the Sun style code.
I searched Sun's site for pascal, and this came up
Maybe it's something to look into, it is built for solaris 2.6, 7 for x86
Free Pascal
I couldn't find any info on here about Sun Pascal. Quite frankly I didn't even know it existed until I read this.
What about Kylix? It does object pascal, but who knows if it can read/compile Sun stuff.
It also seems that Pascal and C should translate almost exactly 1-1. There is a Pascal to C conversion script out there, you might be able to write a Sun Pascal to C conversion script faster than any of the other suggestions.
I *really* like this suggestion, it gets you out of vendor lock in and minimal time used.
Just how much of the code is sun specific? If it's not that much, then try and port, otherwise you seem to be SOL
This may not work out, even at with a group purchase. I recently made a group purchase at TG. The total (before shipping) came out to $160 CDN, just over $100USD. Add $44USD shipping, plus another $44CDN to broker the items accross the border!! The total was $110 CDN Shipping for a $160 CDN purchase! So that nice $10 dollar item at TG quickly doubled in price.
Even ordering in bulk isn't the best solution, because that adds weight to the package and shipping is usually calculated by package weight and distance to destination
There is hope that some good can come out of this I have found (maybe it's just my messed up Win32 system) that Perl runs SLOW on it, my Linux box (amd 200) runs the same stuff way faster (than Win32 amd 300) So hopefully, with this agreement Perl will kick even more on Win32

I seem to remember that Ford's Europe division converted (or will convert) to Linux
IIRC, it is going to be 90 years before Kirk.
You could build a honda civic. :)
The civic doesn't have more that one lawnmower engine in it.
I should know, I drive one
