I seriously doubt that drug dealers are that big a problem at internet cafes... and if they are... it doesn't matter anyway because they'll just follow their customers to their next hang-out spot.
To me this really seems to be an excuse for censorship.
"Brutus.1's contest entry, which is already written, has some bumpy parts but other components make it hard to distinguish from a human effort, says Dan Hurley, founder and creative director of the Amazing Instant Novelist site. "
If you give the computer very strict and complex rules for putting together words, and have it crank out 1,000,000 stories.. one of them is bound to sound like a human.
This contest would be more fair if the computer's entries were randomly generated, rather than handpicked by a human.

There was also some additional information available about the error: [Sat Sep 18 14:24:34 1999] access to/u2/www/users/chess/davidchess/toys/WordURL.cgi failed for nwhn-sh13-port78.snet.net, reason: File does not exist
Additionally, a 404 File Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
OK, I entered some numbers, which were perhaps out of the ordinary but I thought perfectly reasonable:
Stars formed per year: The hint said 5 - 20 in our GALAXY, so I put in 20000000000 as a conservative estimate for the universe.
fraction of suitable stars with planets: 25% I know thats really high, but that should make MORE intelligent civs, right?
number of earth like planets per system: 1 seemed like the right answer.
fraction of planets on which life evolved: 50% perhaps high, but what the hell
fraction of life bearing planets on which inteligence evolved: .01% doesn't seem too likely to me
fraction of intelligent civs that feel like comunicating: 50% a very conservative estimate IMHO
average lifetime of smartie civs: 1,000,000 years.. another conservative estimate IMO.
AND THE RESULTS ARE:
According to your calculations, there are -1 civilisations out there at the moment.
Frank Drake put the number at 10000.
Only time will tell who is correct.
WTF? Did that web server just predict the end of the universe? or did I just cause an integer overflow? I thought my numbers were perfectly reasonable, and since I didn't include any negative numbers, my results definatley should have been positive.

actually it is the same driver as for your 3dfx card, but I have a voodoo3.
I'd rather have my ethernet drivers written by NASA anyway. :)
