Copying software for a prior art repository only helps those people who have the prior art defend their code, and there's no sense in that, as who can copy code that isn't released?
I have never seen an ad on craigslist. I actually have no idea how they make money from someone like me who has looked for rooms for rent in Boston and San Diego, and often buys sporting event tickets.
NYC job postings are a particular fee-based system because of the high demand and the need to keep people from posting many times to bump their postings to the top of the list.
But in general, and likely in this case, craigslist is free.
Happened to me as well.
Followed a car merging onto a rotary. She went, I looked, it was clear, so I started going and she had stopped.
Turns out she had run one person off the road a couple weeks prior and then got in THE SAME ACCIDENT at the SAME PLACE at the SAME TIME a week later!
That time she was hit harder, and with no proof of which damage was from me or from the last accident (oh, and probably the insurance company realizing the fraud), I got off with nothing on my record.
