Oh shut the fuck up, I don't even own a TV. It was just an example. Your assumptions prove only your self-righteousness and idiocy. You have no idea what I do and don't do.
That's not really true. If I want electricity, I have no choice. If I want hot water, I have no choice in either case as to which corporation I must give money to. I need to pick a corporation for health insurance. I need to pick one for car insurance. If they all suck (and they do), I have to deal with it.
Also, oftne you cannot escape the effects of a corporation. I cannot escape tons of mindless advertisements. I cannot escape the influence of companies like Haliburton. I cannot avoid getting screwed by an Enron-like company. I cannot help but breath the polution put out by companies with a greater interest in profit than protecting the environment. I cannot help but have my voice heard less because I can't throw thousands of dollars to dozens of politicans every year. Etc etc...
Eh? Linux doesn't support what? Linux supports Firewire, sleep, cpu scaling, special function keys, sounds, and everything else you'd want about your Powerbook. The only thing *not* supported is Airport Extreme, but things are very close now as far as getting this to work -- Some people already have this working. I'd suggest the next version of Ubuntu (come April?) will have this working out of the box. You might be able to do so now if you're particularly eager, but if you time is worth anything to you and you want improved reception (the internal antenna is crap), I'd buy a supported card or USB dongle.
To be honest, everything works as well as it does on OS X except for wifi. I haven't done anything with additional monitors/projectors yet (hence I'm not sure about that), and I haven't tried to make the keyboard light up (on the model I have, it makes things harder to read -- the new ones are better). Otherwise, I'm quite confident you'd be fine.
Ah I forgot -- I'm not sure about accelerated 3D...
The issue is not that they grew their company... it is that they did it *illegally*. Please get that through your heads. All the EU is trying to do at this point is re-level the playing field.
Unfortunately, I am on the PPC platform (I own a Powerbook).
BSDs do not support the following for my Powebook: * Sleep/suspend * Firewire * Airport Extreme (linux barely does, but it is getting there) * Bluetooth * Processor scaling * Internal modem (not that I care)
Unfortunately, for a laptop to be useful for me, it needs to be able to go to sleep. For it not to eat batteries, I need to be able to adjust the processor speed. Right now, I'm running Ubuntu (I did a server install -- it is basically Debian with an up to date kernel that supports sleep and all other non-wifi functions out of the box as far as I'm concerned), and I'm quite happy.
No, that's not the way it works. People with admin rights should *not* be able to give themselves root access. Admin access is not the same thing as root access. The privileges for the admin group can be set to anything the root user desires actually, including not allowing them to run visudo and other commands. This hole allows users in the admin group to bypass those limitations, which is not intended or desired behaviour.
I think you're under the misassumption that everyone who has a gun is capable of controlling their anger and not acting like the animals that they are. When you get right down to it, you can't trust people to think rationally in all situations. Plenty of people could get properly pissed and try to kill someone, even knowing the other person most likely has a gun on them as well. Me included -- Rush hour pedestrian traffic drives me mad. By your logic, the wild west would've been the pinnacle of order and peacefulness as so many people were armed. It doesn't work that way in practice.
Nothing stops you from contributing secretly patented code (whatever that is) to a GPL project and then suing them either. Yes, the GPL says you can't incorporate such code, but you can't incorporate such code into a BSD program either (as it is patent infringement!). The license has no effect and offers no protection in this case.
Don't you get it? Capitalism! The US landed on the moon, beat the Russians, now has movies, tv, games for everyone -- THE CAT STOLE THE CHEESE -- America wins the capitalism! Hey ho hey ho! 50 trillion in debt hurricanes 9/11. USA!
It isn't so simple. The idea is to make guns harder for criminals to get -- Not impossible. Just because you can't stop every criminal from getting a gun doesn't mean you can't reduce the number. We can't stop every rapist either, but even a 10% reduction in rapes is worth pursuing.
It isn't just up to the police. You need to provide real oppertunities for people. Who is more likely to rob you, a poor crack addict or someone with a full-time job who isn't blowing their money on drugs? People need hope and jobs.
I wasn't aware people robbing stores deserved the death penalty, nor was I aware you were appointed head of vigilante justice. The right thing to do is fork over the money if he's got a gun, not try to shoot him and hope you don't miss. Money is only money.
That's logical. If you only sell guns to people who'd never misuse them, of course crime will drop (or at the very least, not go up). However, ensuring sale of firearms only to such people, and ensuring that such firearms will never be stolen and misused is impossible. The statistical arguments for both sides conflict to be honest.
This makes slashdotters look like a bunch of idiots. Yes, the RIAA is bullshit, and yes, our fair use rights are being eroded. However, "fuck them" and "they will die"... this is pure teen angst idiocy.
If someone calls something art, you have to consider it as such. Placing things in absolute catagories is without any benefit. I personally have played some games that I consider to be art (Killer 7 is the most recent). If Hideo doesn't feel they're art, that doesn't change my viewpoint at all. Plenty of people don't think a Jackson Pollock is art. Plenty don't think a Warhol is art. Those people do not change anything.
Oh shut the fuck up, I don't even own a TV. It was just an example. Your assumptions prove only your self-righteousness and idiocy. You have no idea what I do and don't do.
I wish it worked. The only thing you stand a chance of voting with today is your dollar.
Except I would've been wrong.

NetBSD and OpenBSD were the platforms I was talking about. I assume, if anything, FreeBSD is even worse on PPC given how immature the port is.
I do. However, I really enjoy using wmii and a few other tools which only really make sense in an all-X environment.
Unfortunately, I am on the PPC platform (I own a Powerbook).

Wow -- I totally responded to the wrong comment. Oops! Sorry. :-)
Slashdot fucks it up, I swear...
You're nothing but a potential murderer with a small penis. Fuck you.

Not the vast majority, no, but in many areas... enough are.
Culture, economic status, drugs, desperation, etc, have far more to do with violent crime than how many citizens carry guns.
That's logical. If you only sell guns to people who'd never misuse them, of course crime will drop (or at the very least, not go up). So towns should be able to sells guns to whomever they want as well?
