    My TL-WR1043N uses factory firmware, and I don't remember ever having to reboot it. I also don't use WiFi, but since it was practically impossible to find a cheap router without WiFi... :)

    Yes, the Outer Space Treaty. Japan has signed and ratified it. However, as Wikipedia says, "the Treaty does not prohibit the placement of conventional weapons in orbit."

    Even small pieces won't burn up at all unless you push them downwards into the atmosphere first. Explosions tend to push things in every direction, including up and sideways, which is something we really don't want.

    I might set up a computer with a VNC server, so that you can maintain it remotely. To make the machine addressable, you can use dynamic DNS or a VPN.

    TFA says these transistors would be filled with helium gas, and if it gets replaced with other gases, the thing would quickly stop working due to ionization.

    So I guess there'd be magic smoke going both in and out of the chip.

    As a Singularitan, I recognize that super-AI may turn out to be impossible. After all, we don't have a theory that proves it possible yet. However, in the case that it is possible, the creation of the super-AI will be the single most important event in our observable universe. Thus it is worthwhile to spend some effort in getting it right.

    I've used C++ since 1997.

    Don't care much for the STL. Its syntax is nice, and I don't mind the size overhead much, but the compilation time is noticeably increased the more templates you use.

    C++11 has a bunch of syntax improvements, like "auto" and inline class member initialization. I think I'll use it for most of my future programs.

    As we have seen, keeping any amount of money at an exchange's account is a recipe for disaster. They can still be used, but only if you take care to move your money out of it as soon as possible.
