My TL-WR1043N uses factory firmware, and I don't remember ever having to reboot it.
I also don't use WiFi, but since it was practically impossible to find a cheap router without WiFi...:)
Yes, the Outer Space Treaty. Japan has signed and ratified it. However, as Wikipedia says, "the Treaty does not prohibit the placement of conventional weapons in orbit."
Even small pieces won't burn up at all unless you push them downwards into the atmosphere first. Explosions tend to push things in every direction, including up and sideways, which is something we really don't want.
TFA says these transistors would be filled with helium gas, and if it gets replaced with other gases, the thing would quickly stop working due to ionization.
So I guess there'd be magic smoke going both in and out of the chip.
Pretty obvious, since (a) 0.03% growth is well within the margin of error for GDP measurements, and (b) the worst-case scenario is probably a GDP reduction of more than 0.03%.
As a Singularitan, I recognize that super-AI may turn out to be impossible. After all, we don't have a theory that proves it possible yet.
However, in the case that it is possible, the creation of the super-AI will be the single most important event in our observable universe. Thus it is worthwhile to spend some effort in getting it right.
Don't care much for the STL. Its syntax is nice, and I don't mind the size overhead much, but the compilation time is noticeably increased the more templates you use.
C++11 has a bunch of syntax improvements, like "auto" and inline class member initialization. I think I'll use it for most of my future programs.
As we have seen, keeping any amount of money at an exchange's account is a recipe for disaster. They can still be used, but only if you take care to move your money out of it as soon as possible.
I envision a distributed hash table, where URLs are keys and comments are values.
Uncensorable, pseudonymous comments for every webpage ever. Nice, eh?
So, how long until this DRM module is hacked to let you save uncrypted copies?

Terrorism doesn't have to be organized. Just look at Breivik!
I foresee plenty of dead links to qt.digia.com in the future.

I might set up a computer with a VNC server, so that you can maintain it remotely. To make the machine addressable, you can use dynamic DNS or a VPN.

Yeah, TFA seems like propaganda related to the current season of 24, where American military drones are hacked by terrorists.
Reminds me of Emacs; a decent operating system. All it lacks is a good text editor.
What could ever replace the durability of magnetic tape? Duct tape, maybe.
I've used C++ since 1997.

You are also not using AdBlock. :}
Me too, though I usually install SeaMonkey and/or FileZilla first, just so I can download Total Commander properly.

I wish I had more mod-up points.
I've spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocaine powder. :)
Neural networks aren't exactly new...
Sounds like hard work. Can't we get a computer to do it?
Probably, yes. But it will be hard to make sure it's done right.

Hehe. Anyway, no software means the Tesla Vampire problem wouldn't occur at all, which is a good Thing, I guess. :}
This is what that happens when owners of Things can't change the software running on them.
