  2. Thoughts on Stargate MMO Announced · · Score: 1

This has the POTENTIAL to be a great game. The problem is, how well can Stargate as a franchise hold up to games like WoW, EQ2, Vanguard, etc.

Right after the cacellation of the Stargate Alliance game, this is announced. Apparetnly there is a big enough fan base for a Stargate game, however, I am doubtful about how well it will actually be done.

Also, with such a flaky website, that offers so little actual information (and the information that it does offer being so lack-luster), I am not going to be expecting much, if anything out of this.

As a Stargate fan, however, I hope to be proven wrong

Look, nobody that went to E3 thinks that the xbox 360 is going to tbe the one console that's so realistic that you can stave off female companionship and copulate online.

What is true, however, is that both the xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 are going to be incredible hardware-wise, and will take years to tap their full potential.

The gaming will be sweet...you can argue all you want about dropped features, but this works the other way, too... I'm sure both consoles will come with a new slew of features that haven't been planned/announced yet.

Are the comanies completely honest, no! But right now, it's a game of marketing, and in the end the gamers are the ones who will win

To be fair, you'd have to send your test product to a slice of the population, not to a few greedy people.

I came in a few weeks ago and found my office full of water from where the water main into the boiler had cracked and formed a small lake in my office.
"**laughs** oh, I know, we'll stick the IT guy in the lake"
you have any suggestions on how to better protect equipment in those type situations?

Right now I'm just starting up the IT department where I work, and I've noticed a substantial difference in merely moving the servers from one room to another. of course, my new it room is the old boiler overflow room, and I've heard it rumored that it used to fill up with steam... :S

well, here's what I don't understand... Everyone gripes at sysadmins and tech gurus for speaking "all that technical crap" when we're merely trying to teach them what it is. Dumbing it down for everyone is like going to a restaraunt and getting upset at the hostess asking wether you wanted to sit in a table or a booth because "hey, I don't work in the restaraunt industry, don't push your fancy words on me!" If they don't want to take the time to learn the jargon, that's fine, but don't blame the geeks
