    the problem is they think evolution is backed by it either.
    there are no stages observed in evolution, just giant leaps from creature to creature
    the most we've seen is microevolution. longer tail. never extra vertebrate
    don't question it. it's science.
    people hate God and love circlejerking themselves into their designerless world where they can do what they want without him

    still not ideally fair, as the religious parents are being taxed to pay for a "religion" they disagree with.
    also, sep church/state was always about preventing "you have to do this, follow this God, believe these things", it was a puritanical reaction to the pope+king connection.

    presenting it as an alternative to "well this shit just popped out of nowhere for no damn reason at all and completely disobeyed the laws of thermodynamics and entropy for a good half of all time at which point it suddenly started obeying it" is not exactly mandating religious belief

    airplanes are a far faster, more efficient means of moving people long distances and don't have insane capital costs to build. We don't need public infrastructure.

    But frankly, US roads are in terrible condition compared to the average road in those other regions I mentioned. I'd be glad to pay more for fuel if we could get some decent roads out of it. Most of them here in the Midwest are horribly bumpy and uneven ...

    what? don't drive in the right lane where the trucks drive.
    I've heavily trafficked the US, and do not know these roads you speak of. We redo our roads about every 10 years.

    FCC will step in and regulate if the carriers actually try to do this with all sales. I'm pretty sure there will always be a legitimate used phone market for the next 25 years or so probably. We've got enough people with their heads still screwed on straight to prevent this doomsday scenario.

    Honestly, I don't know how this happens to people. You're walking around with a $600 bankroll. You keep it in your hands, or in your pocket, at all times. Don't just leave it places, and if you do, make sure it's not around sketchy folk.
    The number of thefts where you're sitting on the train next to the door and the thief steals it and books it right as the doors close is...not 3 million. Not anywhere close.

    meanwhile in the US we've been enjoying 30+ day return periods from Amazon

    we have free book exchanges too but people leave crappy books so its not usually worth it.
    we also have a thing called libraries which are free and have 10s of thousands of books.
