I personally am a big fan of the '84 Rose Bowl Prank, where the scoreboard was modified to say "Caltech 38, MIT 9." Look into the "Legends of Caltech" books for more Caltech prank history.
About making rooms disapear: I am a Caltech student who has already had his room disappear over thanksgiving this year. I can also back up that we have made Dr. Baltimore's office (our prez) disappear at least once while I've been here, but it was not considered a big deal.
