I can understand if a private ISP blocks content, although I don't agree with it. They are a private company and can do things like that, and I can choose not to do business with them. I would rather do without internet access than pay a company to block content.

In this case, it is a government controlled service, and thus clearly falls under free speech rights. Someone needs to bring the constitutionality of this under question in court.

Yes, because a 100's of armed civilians trying to shoot down one crazed lunatic would make the situation LESS chaotic, not more. Honestly, whatever you're smoking to come up with that conclusion, I definitely want some.

Leave the shooting to the police, they're the trained professionals. The sad realization is that there needs to be armed police patrolling campuses because shit like this happens, even in rural areas. It's just the world we live in now unfortunately.

And before anyone starts yelling "2nd Amendment!" I'm not saying you don't have the right to own a gun. The second amendment does NOT state that you can carry your gun everywhere you want to. Please, buy the gun and leave it at home or hunting cottage. When it's at home its your problem. The minute you carry that gun into a public place it becomes my problem.

Bad analogy. There is a very real limit on how much you can eat in one sitting (let's call it stomach capacity). Therefore, the buffet restaurant knows, on average, how many plates of food each customer will eat and how to price accordingly.

iTunes, on the other hand, does not have the same restriction. You are pretty much limited to your hard drive capacity, which gets cheaper by the month. You could theoretically just have your computer download their entire catalogue without some kind of restriction on a monthly flat rate.

Not if you apply for something such as a credit card through the mail or online. All you need is name, address, phone, and social security number and you have a credit card in that person's name. In the US, the social security number is the only piece of info most companies need to extend you credit, and then link that account to your credit rating. If the US government really wanted to go after identity theft, they would require physical ID or even lessen the power of the social security number. However, [my speculation]credit card lobbyists [/my speculation] and a "don't care" attitude to really solve the problem from a government stand-point means that the problem will only get worse.

I know what you are saying about the scare tactics. Credit cards are sneakier and they don't even label the envelope anymore, and you only know what it is after you open it.

It is no surprise to me that they are probably getting my info from this database.

Why must we have parties that are at extreme ends of the spectrum? Conservatism is good for some issues, but not all. Liberalism is good for some issues, but not all. Why must people think that US policy and government must all follow one prescribed liberal or conservative way of thinking?

The truth is, we haven't had a conservative government for decades. Conservatives want LESS government involvement, while the current neo-cons want to control every aspect of our lives. Democrats are often labeled as liberals, but they have corporations paying them off too; they're just not so blatently obvious about it. Remember, lobbyists don't really care who's in power, all they have to do is change who they right the checks to.

For both parties, its all about power. Mostly everyone in Washington is filthy rich from their private investments. The only thing to strive for after becoming that wealthy is power.

What we need is a nice middle-of-the-road party that actually thinks about what the people of the united states want when legislating. A party that is not motivated by the almighty dollar. Unfortunately, this is something that is probably never going to happen.

Serenity was a great film, but it did not make much sense without the half-season of character development that had gone on before it.

This implies Star Wars has some sort of well-written character development, which it does not. I love Star Wars as much as the next guy (or gal), grew up with them, but I will never say they have good character development. Star Wars has always been about action and good vs. evil.

Having said all that, Firefly/Serenity are watched weekly in my house, and have ever since the dvd's came out. Star Wars hasn't been in the dvd player for God knows how long.

Personally, I love Wash and yelled "nooooooo" when he died, but I realized that I felt this way because the story and situation was real. In real life, people die in dangerous situations, and I highly applaud Joss for being daring in this respect.
