Maybe that's the point of the article, but it fails to put blame on the gamers. We are the ones driving the industry. How many PS2 owners would say "No I'm not buying a PS3 because of a lack of innovation in the gaming industry?" Not very many. So long as everyone continues buying the rehashed games with better graphics on the newest system, the gaming industry will keep making them.
All this talk about the lack of innovation in first person shooters is really ridiculous. The supposed innovation of Half Life 2 is minimal. Now, for an actual innovative FPS why don't we all run out and play Metroid for the Gamecube. Nintendo has been forever innovating the industry, and will continue to do so for a long time. It's just unfortunate that most gamers feel that playing games with blood or prostitutes somehow makes them a more mature person and so Nintendo doesn't get the credit they deserve.
Any bill of this nature would never have passed regardless of MS support. The right would never vote for it, and the left would never vote for it either fearing backlash from middle america who would never have voted for them anyways. Who said it? I didn't abandon the democratic party, they abondoned me.
Lobbying and buying off votes is a natural part of the American government. At least MS was doing something that could have actually helped something in this country besides their profits, unlike the oil, auto, or electical industries.
I find it funny how Christians justify their hatred of homosexuals by using their religion as a means. For one thing, I thought God and Christianity was about love and acceptance, not hatred and dismissal of people you are personally uncomfortable with. For two, it really shows the ignorance of these people with regards to their religion. The church has been using the Bible for years to push their own hateful agenda, and since faithful Christians don't have the time or desire to read the Bible for themselves, they accept the church's preachings as fact. If any of these hateful Christians actually read the bible for themselves (as I have), they would see that what the church says about homosexuality is a complete fallacy. I could list examples of this however it would fall on deaf ears.
Furthermore, I personally find it sickening that people use the excuse that there is nothing we can do about it, as normal citizens of this country. I guess Lincoln was a left-wing nut case for wanting to end slavery? If it weren't for him, and the people of the north seeing the injustice, believing it was wrong, and wanting to do something about it, who knows where we'd be today. It's a sad state of affairs when the people of this country truly believe that discrimination against gays is not their problem and so they don't have to do anything about it. It is this entire countries problem, and I would urge anyone who says otherwise to really take a look at themselves. It's very selfish.
