The battery ran low because they spend a lot of time messing with the bluetooth functions of the onboard computer. A normal user wouldn't stop the car and spend the whole day uploading files to the on-board computer, would he?

Plus, it's stated in the article the car only replies to bluetooth devices paired with the system. You would have to break into the car, find some way to turn on the on-board computer and pair the on-board computer with your bluetooth device before you could do anything. Sounds like something James Bond would do, but it's impracticable in real life. Or even better, a 00s version of

With the spotlight on Firefox, it's obvious a lot more crackers and hackers are going to start looking at Mozilla Foundation's code. While previously there was little incentive for crackers to exploit vulnerabilities in MoFo's code, you can't say that now, with all the attention Firefox caught.

It's up to MoFo to fix their software as soon as vulnerabilities are reported now. The play time is over, from now on it's going to be Browser Wars II: The Security Menace.

Umh, exactly. I'm sorry, but the fact that Americans still rely on Driver's licenses and Student IDs for authentication is pretty pathetic. It's like using that "Certificate that ______ is the best dad in the world!" your kid gave you in father's day as your company ID. Am I the only one who chuckles when I see "Driver's license #" in a form for opening a bank account? What if I don't have a driver's license?

Companies and governments already track you, with IDs or without IDs. Driver's licenses, credit card numbers, bank accounts, you name it. I once read an article in a magazine long ago about privacy; the conclusion was that if you want real privacy you can't leave your house, use the Internet, own a credit card / bank account or use the phone. If you want real privacy, become a Tibetan monk.

Like parent said, many European countries have IDs like that, and they aren't the ones who get their bags opened and searched at the airport without their presence. So much to protest about, yet people make a fuss out of nothing.

  4. Miss BSODs? Try our Do-It-Yourself BSOD! on Longhorn: Fewer BSODs, More RSODs · · Score: 1
You're not trying hard enough. I started to become nostalgic after switching to XP. I miss the 9x days, you could make bets on what VxD would cause a BSOD while Windows was booting. Good thing Microsoft thought about us, the nostalgic people when adding "features" to their OSes. Just add a DWORD with the name CrashOnCtrlScroll and the value set to 1 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\i8042prt\Parameters , reboot and then hit Ctrl + Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock. You'll get a nice MANUALLY_INITIATED_CRASH.

But it's good to see Microsoft puts so much effort in their errors. If we have to look at them all the time, they might as well be colored.
