Me three on the not wanting to try Lasik due to recurring uveitis. I eat kale and collards pretty frequently though, so I'm not sure that will help, but it can't hurt, they're really good for you.
Yes, apparently the processor, graphics card and AGP slot, main memory, hard drive, DVD, motherboard, all its associated ports, et al are considered "basic electronics."
Besides, the amplifier is tiny, and as for power, many devices have external transformers and other power-related devices these days. It's not as though you've got a big AT power supply sitting on your desk next to the Cube.
If you haven't already, let me highly recommend reading the book The Age of Spiritual Machines by Ray Kurzweil. It's got some amazing insights about the next 100 years, as well as a fairly in-depth discussion of neural networks and algorithms for them. It also covers other methods for creating "intelligent" machines such as recursion (used in chess-playing).
What if Roblimo licked mah ballz while I had zero-G sex with Natalie Portman (naked and exhibiting an odd, granite-like behavior) floating in a capsule full of hot grits, like some twisted combination of a South Carolina greasepot hole-in-the-wall and the 32nd sequel to "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids"?
Would I be leet then? OOoo, there's some lovely filth over here, Dennis...
I feel kind of sorry for the Mac owners, locked into Apple/ATI hardware.
Don't feel sorry for me. My G4 has a 2x AGP port and supports 3dfx Voodoo cards just as well as the ATI Rage 128 Pro it came with, using the beta drivers 3dfx released recently.
3dfx even announced they will have official, release-quality support for their upcoming VSA-100 boards on the Mac - the Voodoo4 and Voodoo5. See mac3dfx.com for more info.
I've got no idea what they were thinking with regard to the keyboard and mouse either.
I've got a Power Mac G4, and the first changes I made to the system came from MacAlly. I bought their iKey USB extended keyboard and their iSweetNet 2-button USB scroll mouse.
Now I can interact with my G4 like an adult, at least. And no, I don't work for MacAlly, I just really like their products.
There have been a couple free updates to Connectix VGS for compatibility and performance improvements as well (v1.1 and 1.2). They stopped development when Sony won the temporary injunction.
However, I read elsewhere (MacNN maybe?) that they were planning to announce a release date for a version 1.3 update within a month; this update would address compatibility for games released during the legal process.
Likely their support will be similar for the Windows version.
>Christianity affects your whole being...It is what makes you you.
Scarcely have I ever read such nonsense. If that is true, then I am proud to say that I am not a Christian, for who would ever want to be defined by someone else?
Developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as so many of you preach, should be just that - a personal relationship. In other words, kindly keep it to yourself.
There's a lot of anti-Apple spewage going on about the G4, and that's understandable, given the audience. Give Apple credit for helping bring the chip to market, however. Without them, Motorola might've dropped it, and then you wouldn't have the possibility of an AltiVec-enhanced G4 PowerPC Open Platform box running LinuxPPC, and cracking what can only be described as a buttload of keys for the Slashdot RC5 team.

I second the "reporter smoking crack" idea.

Here's the Web site for the book, and also Ray Kurzweil's site.
Many thanks to Clifton Broumand of Man&Machine for graciously providing this review unit.
Which he now has to donate to slashdot, since it's been in the tub with timothy and (shudder) on his naked thighs.
So...

On top of that, companies like Total Impact can now bring to market open platform multiprocessor G4 systems that will likely be really screamin' fast.
Forget iMac - now *that's* yummy.
