You're from India aren't you.... I remember my school had around 500 students and about 20 computers for them. We'd share a PC between 2 or 3 of us and play Hangman and draw complex figures like squares and circles with a friendly turtle in a delightful language called Logo.
Ahhh... those were the days.....
I guess then Microsoft could benefit from distributing free copies of their OE (OS+virii+spyware suite) to our schools. But our President likes OSS!! Yayyy!!!
Thats quite interesting. Dell actively promotes Windows XP for its home systems. Making such a shift will really hurt Microsoft.
Buying stock into RedHat (someone
mentioned about the debentures already having being converted, so I mention stocks) and letting the news 'slip' out is probably just a way to let people know that "Dell recommends RedHat" instead of "Dell Recommends Windows XP".
It shows Debian as the most preferred platform with a count of 31865 (21.37%)
The count is not exclusively of Desktops though. There's a statistic on the "Purpose" of the machine and it includes a fair share of database servers, www servers, etc. Also, one machine may be registered as having multiple purposes (I registered mine as 'learning', 'programming' and 'toy')
1) Grandma sees the RSOD 2) Grandma has a stroke 3) Grandma switches to Mac
Hell now Microsoft can't use the "Even your Grandma can use it" tagline can it.
But seriously, what could make Microsoft introduce a new error level? Does this mean that Longhorn may just as well fsck up your data if it wishes to?
Maybe Bill has finally realized his dream of selecting users at random and replacin all their data files with copies of his modelling photos http://nagi.twoday.net/topics/Aaaaaargh+!/
It is clearly mentioned in the Google Privacy Policy that they collect information about you (browser types, cookies, cached web pages). Infact it also warns that insecure submission of your data will be cached on their servers and that cookies will be saved and your browsing patterns are plain for them to see. It is upon you whether to trust them with it or not.
They should be given credit for being upfront about it and infact, educating people about how exactly their service will affect their privacy.

Google Toolbar is for Internet Explorer only
Firefox doesn't need a Google toolbar. It already has one.
Picasa Photo Organizer requires Internet Explorer and Windows XP or Windows 2000
Wrong again. I am using Picasa on my Windows 98 machine. And it works faster and better, and is prettier than Webshots Desktop could ever hope to be.
