  1. Not as bad as it sounds on Mars Rovers Facing Budget Cuts [Updated] · · Score: 2, Interesting

The article mentions that funding is being reduced for the current mission, but that decision is being made in the context of (cost overruns) with the upcoming "Mars Science Laboratory, a follow-on rover set to launch next year". So while they are cutting funding for the current rovers, it's not as if they're stopping the Mars science-based mission overall?

  2. Peer-reviewed literature on global warming/climate on BBC Wants Evidence of Climate Science Bias · · Score: 4, Informative
The journal Science published a review of 928 peer reviewed publications and whether reports from organizations like IPCC "might downplay legitimate dissenting opinions". The review found that 75% explicitly or implicitly accepted the consensus view, that 25% took no position one way or the other and that none disagreed with the consensus view.

"Admittedly, authors evaluating impacts, developing methods, or studying paleoclimatic change might believe that current climate change is natural. However, none of these papers argued that point."

  3. Largest Cluster of RS satellites? on India Launches World's First Stereo Imaging Satellite · · Score: 3, Informative

Perhaps I'm not understanding how the submitter is using the term "non-military", and not to wave Uncle Sam's flag too much, but offhand I can think of more than six US RS platforms/sensors:

    EOS/Terra/MODIS http://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov/
    Landsat ETM+ http://landsat.gsfc.nasa.gov/
    Landsat MSS (yes still going)
    AVHRR http://daac.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/dataset/AVHRR/
    GOES http://www.goes.noaa.gov/
    ASTER http://asterweb.jpl.nasa.gov/

Not to mention US based commercial satellites:
