What surprises me, is that people still buy games made by verant / SOE. Its the same people running the show, and they've always pulled crap like this. Terrible balancing acts, Mass bannings of people for reasons ranging from having their game ruined to reporting someone hacking their account. These people have always had it out for the players, and they enjoy watching you squirm under their thumbs, while they light up cubans with 20 dollar bills.
They must put some type of brainwashing waves in all their games that make people stay to play them. From the sounds of it, SOE spends all their time making the game unenjoyable to begin with.
The only serious evidence is what I see in other MMOs, when an everquest player joins. Usually the conversation goes like this.
"This game sucks because its not everquest."
this is immediatly followed by, "This game sucks because it does not have the following features in everquest" .
The logic behind it is a quandry for the ages, yes. Im not saying everyone is like that, its just that I run into THAT argument in every MMO thats come out since then that Ive played. Yes, including Matrix online.
I have one cracked up theory to send to you. You see the latest news about a new EQ2 expansion? Well, lets say that the company doesnt want to waste anymore resources on SWG, and instead wanna push everyone over to EQ2. Lets also say they're bound under contract to keep SWG running until there is lack of player interest?
So whats the best way to have a reason to shut down a game one doesnt want anymore? drive away all the players! And then they'll all come over and play eQ with our newest expansion of stuff which will be nerfed or people will be banned for in the near future.
I just pray that, if thats the case, most people would of learned their lesson by now.
