A long game that you can play in short episodes would logically have the most appeal.
A good example would be Puzzle Pirates. You have a large scale simulated world, but the cations you perform are short puzzles. CS has a similar element. You have short intense sessions, but the money element transfers between sessions.
The problem with realy long games (Morrow Wind, NWN etc) is that the casual player will be left cold. I know very few people that will play NWN in a lunch hour, but lots of people are willing to play solitaire or minesweeper.
So maybe a way to get more casual players, is to break a long game into realy short events or episodes that can be played in 5 min and stil advances the overall global plot.
