Let me put the quote in bold for you:

According to Scott's biographer, Elspeth Huxley, China's decision to join was influenced by a World Wildlife Fund promise to provide $1 million to fund a panda reserve. I would call that buying votes.

Well, the other guys started it. Japan was forced to use the same tactics.
From the very same article you are quoting:

However, since the late 1970s and early 1980s, many countries which have no previous history of whaling (some of which are landlocked such as Switzerland and Mongolia) have joined the IWC. This shift was first initiated by Sir Peter Scott, the then head of the World Wildlife Fund.

Isn't this exactly how libraries have worked since ...um, long before 2003?

Fourth hypothesis: The cells try to kill the next child. This would help the child having the full attention of the mother.

It might sound a bit ridiculous but shouldn't the cell's effects on later births be studied?

Not quite, MPEG2 HDTV is usually at 13-15 Mbps (max 19 Mbps).
Plus, you made an error, your calculation results should have been 1000 Gbps.
    So 10,000 users would require 10,000 * 13 Mbps = 130,000 Mbps = 130 Gbps.

Coincidentally, that is what Caltech achieved. :)

By using a better encoding (H264) they might even double that number.

The problem is that most details should not be published, but will be found out anyway. If you've got a highly organized group, you set up a fake hi-jacking. The perps watch what happens to be sure they know what the signal is. Then they communicate this info through their lawyers to their partners.

It wouldn't even have to be this this difficult. With the tens of thousands of flight attendants, getting this information would be easy. The hijacker himself might even be a flight attendant!

I think you are having some font issues. I think the mozilla browsers are still using some pre-carbon method for displaying text. If you go through your fonts in Font Book, disable all the 'Classic Mac OS' fonts (not 'Classic') and check if you have any damaged fonts.

Strange that tracing phone numbers hasn't been mentioned. In movies it always takes exactly 30 seconds or 2 minutes. I don't think it should be that long. Can't 911 do that in an instance?
