NASA is good at exploration and science not $, having contractors take over service missions (see space station) makes sense, private companies all ready launch satellites so the private industry has experience, as long as the bid evaluations weight technical expertise over cost no technical knowledge will be lost and it can be done at a better price . NASA is poor at managing a budget because their piggy bank has always had more then enough this has led to an administration that can not effectively manage a budget bringing in industry is a good way to manage cost.

The only advantage a landline has is during local power outages but cell phones will work so all that is lost is VoIP unless your router is connected to an ups. What most people have realized is that an extra $40 a month is not buying anything especially now that they can keep their phone number.

The F-35 is a utility plane it was designed to do many things well it is a light bomber not a fighter, the F22 is a fighter and limiting them to 180 is foolish they will have to last until the 6th generation fighter is ready for production (30 years). The Russian su-47 is more then capable of handling F-35's and they are currently shopping it, Iran would be a perfect customer they have oil money and hate the US as much as Russia. It's not just the threats the US will face today but will face in the next 30 years once production is stopped the molds are destroyed are starting up production will take many years not good if Russia or China decide to become aggressive.

Forced indoctrination by requiring students to take philosophy, psychology, sociology,... does not help a student in their career. The 25% should be spent on things the student may use like finance and a further focusing in their field. Students today look to extracurricular activities for the extra knowledge they will need to secede but are forced to take a bunch of entry level classes that they will never use. Colleges are turning out Jacks and Jills (thank you sociology) of all trades but masters of none.
