FWIW, in my line of work, I see hundreds/thousand(s) of hard drives in use per year, and the brand that fails the most: *drumroll*.. Is typically the brand that is the cheapest, and thereby receives the greatest market share. Maxtor, Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi, Samsung.. they all die. I see Maxtor's failing the most, since that is the most popular HDD being sold in my area. If I thought that based upon failure rate that Maxtor drives were highly prone to fail, then I would'nt be using them in my RAID. A religious backup schedule is a better idea than guessing by brand name or warranty.
Is there any objective way to measure how effective President Bush's methods have been. Putting aside the unconstitutional nature and invasion of privacy; have these tactics actually produced the intended results or do they just take us back to 1984 for no apparent reason?
I replaced every OpenServer (only 3 in total) I have found in the last 12 months with better suited Linux distros. My clients love the savings & security of knowing a competent admin will keep their systems patched and performing flawlessly. Here's to all you/.'ers out there: Happy Hunting!
Even if you shut down one C&C, the thousands of infected pcs, remain infected and ready to join another botnet.
It may be a little known fact, but the "rooters" as the script kiddies call themselves, go to great lengths to secure their newly infect zombies against further infection. Whoever gets the unsecure box first, has mere moments to tighten the security hole he just exploited, before someone with better scripts comes along and takes it away from him.
No honor amo.. - You get the point.
Isn't this (MSH) exactly what the virus/spyware writers have been waiting for? Will this sort of CLI give rise to more widespread scripted attacks, or will MSH be more protected that the rest of windows?
A better question might be: Where is this fine money going? $5M or 5% might be chump change to M$.. but politicians would be beside themselves to lay hands on the loot.
The "content moguls" have fucking ruined it for everyone with their whining control-freakery.
Yea, I'm with you.. I can't wait to not buy any DRM enabled product.
At first glance I thought it said Biatch Data Mining.. and subsequently had privacy concerns for ex-girlfriends.
