Re-reading my post it gives off a very dramatic tone. I was 10 years old and some people laughed at me... that didn't change my life. My post was a sort of a joke and just my way of showing that what the person above me said doesn't always work (that Germans are welcoming, friendly, and understanding towards people who don't speak their language fluently).
I hate people who try their hardest to extract a drop of insult. You came out more pathetic that I did.
When I was about 10 years old I spent about 24 hours with my parents in Frankfurt, waiting for the flight to Israel.
I will forever remember the shame I felt when the employees at Haagen-Dazs laughed their ass off at me for trying to order ice cream using English. Oh, and they didn't understand a word I said. Never got that ice cream...
Just comes to show you that generalizations never work.
The Gmail spam effort is great!
In the last month I was suprised to find 2 (read: two) whole spam message in my inbox, but other than that I can't remember the last time some viagra junk got past its filters.
One time it did generate a false positive, but that is only technically speaking. I got a stupid email from my English teacher marked as spam, but it was quite unsolicited, so it only made me love Gmail more!
I totally agree with you. Paul D. Savage of Brigham Young University - everyone, remember this name as the name of the person who saved millions! Now that this has been posted on/. we can get to the actual saving of people.
I hate to be so hyped, but I just couldn't stop myself! This is just excellent news. Probably the most significant thing I've read on/. in the last few months (not to diss all the other articles, but sometimes these things are more important that geek news). I really hope that this doesn't come out as a hoax, but then again, who in this world can pull out such a prank?
But now that I think about it, if AIDS is to be easily cured (hypothetically), will promiscious sex become a more normal thing? Will protection be a mere thing of the past? The HIV epidemic has forced millions to think once more before performing intercourse, and now will sex still be so frowned upon?
Damn... Can you say MILF?
