I'm hoping there's a copyright issue at play here.
How? they added a hyperlink. It doesnt affect the readability, they didnt change your wording, they didnt quote you out of context.
Remember, its their service.
I'm a little tired of people crying every time they see an add on the web, perhaps we could all just learn to ignore them, as I'm sure the majority already do.
I'll give up my Cel Phone......when they pry it from my cold, dead hands. I'll still be using the miniature microwave to nuke my brain until I have a tumor the size of Rhode Island--only then will I admit that it's hazardous to my health and not before! And then I'll sue the phone company for not making me stop.
Your typical 'evil' businessman doesnt care about small victories, if you compromise once, you're leaving yourself open to more and more compromise.
This means that if you combine free and proprietary software, its unlikely they'll ever be seperated.
Better to stand firm to your ideals than compromise them for the sake of popularity.
I'd just like to point out that 'cyberspace' and 'meatspace' are not seperated.
The web is a part of the _real_ world, not an 'alternate dimension'.
It should, therefore, be legislated the same, equally, as 'meatspace',

.porn, .sex, .xxx tlds would be handy, but they would only filter 'legit' adult content. (sites like playboy / penthouse that everyone knows)
.com/org/net domains to get hits.
In their scramble for exposure, you'd still get sites squatting on
My short two cents worth:
Personally, if which ads are on slashdot doesnt matter to me, be they VA or any other.
If any hardware vendor comes up with a decent new product it'll be posted ON slashdot, as always.
So who really cares which banner is at the top of the page?
It seems to me like people are just itching to make a big deal of Slashdots 'sell-out'.
Sincerely,
Synsear
