Sorry, I should have been clearer.

I wasn't just referring to the interface.

Yep, almost all DV cams (including my Panasonic) have Firewire. They've never had USB !

Problems is, I've yet to see motherboards with support for Firewire. (except the iMac junk).

And as long as it's only video cams that uses Firewire, we won't see any either.

Actually, while some of Microsoft's business practices doesn't seem so nice to us "normal" people, they've just been doing what every company would do (and does).

The sad thing about this trial ( and it's outcome), is that we, the comsumers are going to pay. A split of Microsoft would probably make prices even higher.

While most of the /. visitors seems to be kids who likes to kick at the big companies/establishment (I did so too in the 70'ies), you have to realize that without Microsoft, you probably wouldn't be reading this on a computer.

True, it's on it's third year now here in Sweden.

In the beginning, you could be voted out by your own team - one was - and later killed himself.
Whether this was due to the show, I don't know, but there was all kind of complaints, and the show was called mobbing-tv e.t.c.
They have now changed the rules so it's the other teams which can vote out one from "your" team.
This completely spoiled the show, because the other teams will obviously try to vote out the "best" on a competitive team.
That means that if you try to help your teammates, be a nice guy and all that, you're asking for a ticket home.

So from mobbing-tv, it went to be sissy-tv.

  9. Who's suffering on Princeton Prof Advocates Euthanizing Handicapped Babies · · Score: 1
Just came to think of one thing.

There's no requirements for people to be parents and "create" life, everybody have the "right".

However they don't have the right to take that life.

The rules of our society prohibits the latter, but for some of the people who becomes parents, even the former should be forbidden.

    Who's most poor ?

The handicapped child with the almost non-functional brain.
    The starving Ethiopian, or
the (black?) American born in a gang-ruled LA ghetto ?

Clearly, killing off handicapped children seems to be more a matter of saving the parents, (than the child,) from suffering.

While the MS story have a few things that are quite exaggerated, it points out some very serious problems with Linux.

I couldn't help laugh at Mandrakes comments - who's he trying to convince ? The corporations ? HA haha ! They'll sure be impressed with his (lack of) language. (If they'll ever read it.)

And most of the comments here seems to do the same. Trying to convince (or keep the faith within) the Linux community that Linux is great.

Pissing contest - except there's nobody around to see how far you can go.

  12. Depth Perception on Turn Your 15" Monitor Into 30 Cheap · · Score: 1
What the article does not mention very clearly, and what most people here seem to have missed, is that the Fresnel lens parallelizes the light beams from the screen, thereby giving "depth" to the picture.

For this reason, Fresnel lenses have been used for ages amongst the flight simulator fans, as it greatly enhances the feeling of immersion. Instead of focusing 1 feet away on your screen, you can focus somewhere around 3-10 feet away. The size of the picture is secondary.
It does get a bit blurry, but that's just a bonus in some cases.

You wouldn't like to use this thing for editing text on a 1600*1200 resolution screen !
