Have an open framework for members of the open source community to enhance and create new cluster/multicore optimized technologies.
Allow us to do render farms or computation of nodes to do whatever sounds cool at the time.
Of course the projects have to be approved, and their may be a small fee unless the project looks interesting or you wish to claim it against a donation of resources.
What is preventing you from not using a live cd and booting into bash with Single user mode and resetting or editing shadow? In many distro's that do not have encrypted partitions, you can just modify the kernel line with either single appended or init=/bin/bash or a combo of the 2.
We had acquired some old 233mhz tablet pc's from an hospital auction without hard drives or any external connections back when I was in college.
We took 3 of them and loaded linux on, I still use them as thin client ebook reader's in the bathroom, and the other's were used to make furniture.
Let's just say that we had tables with touch screen interfaces, under glass panel's. Stacks of hard drives for legs....
It was very geekish, but tastefully done, and great conversational pieces, until a few drunks decided to push another drunk into the table. Glass everywhere and a few broken tablet's...
We ended up giving the non-broken tablet's (all but 3 [1 cracked lcd screen, 2 opposite facing corners broke off and fractured boards.) to friends and they have since loaded OS's on them.
Good 'ole Fujitsu's can take a beating (except those at the point of direct contact), but are slow.
Which brings up smart-tags and RFID in packaging and product.
The US tends to see this as the future of thwarting counterfeit drugs.
Just have the retailers verify it with a online activation list at the register or upon shipment unloading.
The unique id is expired or the tag is reissued another verification hash which is stored centrally to keep track of inventory.
Raise your glass and say cheers, someone gets it!
The people who pirate seem to have a common bond, they are not willing or able to pay for it.
Ignore them and they will walk all over you, but at least your not wasting your potential profit trying to stop them.
It's a "cat and mouse" game. If the cat catches the mouse, it just craps it out... there always seem to be more mice.
Mice find ways around obstacles, even if they have to chew through it (reverse engineer) or sacrifice one of their own (get someone on the inside.) Mice tend to want to help one another.
For the people willing to pay for it, they will buy it. Some want to taste the milk before buying the cow, even if it means draining an entire cow and buying another cow (beating the game and then buying it because they liked it).
By putting a copy protection on a game, it just means that once the company goes under, legitimate owners of a media will not be able to recover or play an old archived version of a game.
Many purchase the products and use cracked or patched games to get rid of the need for media insertion. This is especially true for laptops that make a humming noise when a disc is in or creates vibrations you feel while gaming.
Don't waste money to create an hassle for the consumer. Waste the money to make it better for the consumer.
Everyone hold up your glasses and say cheers. If you are not wearing glasses then hold up a glass. If one is not around you than pretend to hold up a glass (if you have no arms and cannot physically hold up a glass than you can still pretend to.)

ASM
but seriously the most practical languages to learn next are the scripting languages for installers like NSIS, Inno, or InstallShield.
The only difference from this and going on a true vacation, is on a true vacation you usually are relaxed and get to enjoy life. With the rehab camp, it sounds like you will hate life and yourself.
Vacations involve technology such as computers.
True vacations may include conveniences, but should contain a void of computers, cell phones, or any other wide-scale communication device. You can have them, but only use them during extremes.
Just my thoughts, although I do not feel I have had a true vacation since I was a child, and even then, I spent a lot of time trying to communicate in a global sense...
can anyone say mod_rewrite in apache....
I can {speaks out loud "mod_rewrite in apache"
Its been done many times over and over, prior art exists already all over.
More eye strain typing your homework than reading the gosh darn book. IR, isn't that bad for your eyes? IR isn't that bad for your eyes! IR is bad for your eyes. IR, is that bad for your eyes?
This is exactly why once implemented in every gateway we will compress the videos and password protect them.
We will then have web services or use shell to extract the videos using the password provided, thus bypassing the ability to watermark out videos we upload.
Gee, this technology seems like a swing and a miss.
Not that I would distribute pirated media.

That was going to be my suggestion.
