  1. Indeed. Independents can not even write enough code to have that many bugs in there.

  2. Probably 18% is a lie too, just a more convincing one.

To be fair, it requires some real insight to understand where they fail. That is a rare quality in the human race.

Scientific consensus is science. It means a lot of smart people have looked and did a) find convincing evidence for it and b) failed to find any reasonable contradictory evidence. As a result, scientific consensus is nothing like ordinary consensus. This faulty reasoning is however a favorite of anti-science people that do not like the facts that science finds and think that if they just believe hard enough in their own fantasies, reality changes.

And fail. Scientific consensus is not "argumentum ad popolum", as to be part of it requires some actual qualification and insight into the topic. Your "argument" (which is actually a fallacy) is however popular will all those that do not like what science finds out and would much rather regard their own fantasies as the truth.

  6. Yes, AAA can give you an incredible amount of nothing, but independent can give you a reasonable amount of actual fun. I know what I prefer.

  7. Couldn't agree more. The most fun I had last year was with Oxygen Not Included by Klei. And they are still not even out of early access.

  8. Well, personally I stop reading game reviews when I see "microtransactions" and I do buy quite a few games. (No TV and not missing it one bit.) If they want to screw me over, they can screw themselves instead. I will rather give my money to those that may have worse tech or worse size but actually understand that this is about entertaining people, not about squeezing as much money out of the customer as possible.

Sadly, I think not many people actually do vote with their money this way. They get drawn in by the hype and then gladly let themselves be screwed over.

  9. If you do that, you never have dark again, because you effectively cannot close your eyes.

  10. The article is lacking in details, but it looks like the idea is to just spray sea-water high enough in a fine mist. So no logistics issues.

You do not get it. Harder winters are one of the signs of global warming taking effect. Sure, things are getting warmer on _average_, but the real killer is that winters are getting colder and summers are getting warmer. This is well-known and not in dispute among the experts.

Indeed. Of course not paying for going green now will just be incredibly more expensive later. But humans as a group are stupid that way. I guess pretending to listening to them was probably the winning move for Trump overall, people are suckers for anyone with power pretending to take them seriously.

  17. I find that you have two classes of people: Those that want to learn and those that do not. The second class is lost anyways, no way to reach them. May at least get some entertainment out of them. The first class is something else and I either do not insult them or apologize when I realize the mistake. That approach is working pretty well, thank you.

It is still something that people should be prevented from doing. They need to be given an alternative that does actually not do this incredible amount of damage.
