To an extent I agree that there is perhaps a greater importance placed on 'fancy graphics', but that doesn't necessarily detract from the quality of the games.
Final Fantasy X, for example, was a great game, even by Final Fantasy standards; yes some of the characters were weak, but did it keep the general aura of an FF game intact? I think so!
I can't wait for Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, I think they'll be great!
