Are you kidding? Manned spaceflight is one of the most interesting things we do, Earth observing, while necessary, is boring. I'm glad China or India is going to beat us back to the moon because we're more interested in providing healthcare to lazy people.
This person obviously has very little experience with Linux and should probably be posting this to something other than the front page of Slashdot. Can't we get some good questions for once? How about ask Slashdot becomes solely a forum for questions to be posted for interviews with influential people? I'm tired of winblows fanboys asking why they can't get Linux to do something it has supported for years.
Acutally, the FAA redefined the acronym to be UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) a while back so that they could legally regulate them (the FAA does not regulate "Vehicles" only "Aircraft"). So despite the fact that UAV is still popular with the general public, the term is actually been declared defunct.
How do you get supercomputer performance from something that can't run
without running a GUI? 50% of your available processor time is spent
running processes that are NEVER used.
Oh yeah - I forgot - everyone administers their clusters by hooking a
keyboard, mouse, and monitor to each node and clicking
start->settings->control panel
