What i used to do was: Each admin knows the passwords that they need to know. Then the network manager or somone who knows all of the passwords would write them all down on seperate pieces of paper and sealed in individual envolope then put in to a fireproof safe with the rest of the companies sensitive documents. Problem solved at a minimum cost thats also very secure.

Mate where have you been in UK and US this already happens. Also in the US and some parts of europe e.g. geneva you CAN NOT! exceed 42bits of encryprion. This is so that secret services can decrypt any of your messages in a sensable timescale.

I aggree windows is relitively easy to use securily to the extent of you have a firewall. However it is rarely applications that you have installed on the machine (these can be controlled by user permissions quite precisley anyway) but the behind the scenes process' that run unrestrictedly with the local system account.

It truly is a great idea to have your internet browser linked to unrestricted system service like the RPC *saracsm*. It is this that is the problem with windows. Whereas linux has a superuser that spawns processes in to seperate user areas, windows simply runs the process as the super user 9 times in 10.

Lets be honest, if it wasnt for microsoft, computers would be in a communist stoneage. There would still be amazing applications but assuming they were open source most people wouldnt have a clue how to use them.

In short they need to pull themselvs out of their own a** hole, take a step back and think to themselvs... Anyone can make a phonecall... whats wrong with a fax or a visit from an official. These things need to be taken seriously it they want a serious response.
