I doubt anyone claiming to be Jedi will hold a non-trivial political office anytime soon. In case you haven't noticed, Libertarians can't even get elected in the US.
I'm sure sooner or later though, that there will be a mayor who is Jedi. He will be from a town with a population of 30. The Daily Show will then do a piece about him. We can only hope it is Mo Rocca!
