i'm still trying to figure out a way to get the advertisers/businesses who buy consumer/click data to stop paying the middle man collector, as in this instance, and pay me directly for telling them where i click, what i buy, and for just watching commercials...
i'm still holding out for some kind of insole insert thing that works as i walk, and that i can switch out with once i get to where i'm going.
'course, dunno what the toxic smell issue might bring...
i'm wearing us military issue pants right now, which i bought at a thrift store. those were created by our government. does this mean i shouldn't wear them if i want the government to stay out of my pants?
not only developing world.
i was thinking more along the lines of cheap-o electronics inside cereal boxes, happy meals, etc...a lot of overlap, tho, i'm guessing there is.
it may go without saying on slashdot, but there are a lot of devices which will work on whichever voltage comes out of the wall, regardless of the locale, but there are a lot that don't. i worked in an electronics store on a military base in germany for a while, and you wouldn't believe the number of people who brought in for repair their 110 electronics which they had fried by plugging them into a 220 outlet, with only a plug adaptor at the end of the cord.
it's a sad state of affairs when going outside, reading, having family time, etc, are considered alternatives to what is found on tv. your post makes it sound as tho tv is the default setting of how to spend time at home.
of course, asking my family what they're doing when i speak to them on the phone usually has the same result.
i was being sarcastic about not hearing about new shows. since not watching tv shows, i think i hear about them even more from other media than tv even more. i don't watch an actual show until i've heard its virtues extolled several times from friends in different circles. or, i may have heard some buzz, and i'll visit someone who's watching tv, or spend the night at a house with a tv, and i'll surf it while checking out new shows. altho, they gotta be pretty damn good to get me sucked in in the time i give them before going back to world's scariest teenage animal car chases.
of course, there's always--or, there was--youtube for checking clips of shows out.
good question. i stopped watching tv years ago, and had no idea there were new shows created since. it's too bad for the producers that they only advertise their shows on television itself.
and that's why you won't be the one to make money off of it. today ultralites, tomorrow something else. i'm no avionics/aviation specialist, but come on. real advances happen when people think outside of the box. typically, "the box" just means "what was previously thought impossible."
i don't remember the name of it, but when i lived in japan, (87-90) there was a wrestling video game at the local arcade, and one of the characters was called "the insane worrier" or something similar. good times.
a lot of the books don't charge for a listing on the website, culling their info from wherever, but DO charge for a link to your website.
and yellow pages ads aren't even close to cheap.
this reminds me of the killer soda machine in maximum overdrive...and i believe theo huxtable had something similar when he and his friends moved off campus and into their own apartment...

Doesn't New Zealand also have some unusually strict laws against certain types of horror movies?

i tested http://greatfirewallofchina.org/test and it came back as blocked.
altho, in their defense, there is a link about how it could be a technical, not a political issue...

meh, for a free international cell phone call?

meh. i say the same thing. it's easier to say, and type than "memory card" and most reasonable people know what i'm/he's talking about.

i think the slashdot crowd already has the doritos on desktops angle covered...

if you don't remember some weirdo claiming to be yourself from the future, then it won't really matter, will it?

know worries. theirs plenty of time to check others's...
fix it tickets are one thing. checking the trunk is another. does he have a right to check my trunk if i have no rear view mirrors?
it'd be nice to also see where nearby parking structures/lots are.

Ever been stopped on the way out the door at Costco? You're basically proving to the door lackey that you're not stealing anything.
you mean...they're not checking to make sure i didn't get overcharged?
you don't need a telescope...
Theory and practice are two completely different things.
not in theory.

there's a joke in here somewhere.
