They are not replacing Gnome. Unity is a shell that runs on top of Gnome. I tried Gnome Shell, which is also a shell that runs on top of Gnome. I didn't like it. I welcome an alternative to it.
So these shells are just something that makes your desktop look nice and more organized supposedly. Gnome is still there. Quit with the ZOMG im swtching abck t ofedora!!! You don't have to use Unity or Gnome Shell. Am I wrong here?
I am actually acquainted with a guy that works for Broadcom. I remember he and I, at a gathering a few months ago, having a very heated discussion about the state of their wireless drivers for Linux. More like me ranting to him.
He said that they have a team of programmers that put out their Linux drivers and bla bla bla ( I pretty intoxicated). I was bitching because the only distro that worked out of the box, for me anyways, was Ubuntu. I know he's some sort of manager that works on the wireless card side of things. I wonder...
Is there any way to get to a shell on iPhones? Does jail-breaking it let you install an app or ROM that will allow that. It would be nice to have root and be able to use a package manager or somthing like that. I just got one for work so I'm an iPhone noob.
Owned. Great points Andrew. I for one think that openSUSE is a great distro. I took a Linux class where we learned Linux and ran on it. I do love my Ubuntu for every day use but it is a great distro and Novell has some muscle to keep pushing Linux forward.
You couldn't possibly head to the Home Depot gardening section to purchase a narcotic, could you? I have a friend that claims to get high from smoking or making tea out of poppies seeds from Home Depot. I don't believe him.

OK glad you cleared that up. I completely agree with what you are saying. I'm just saying that for me grub 2 is a mess.
grub 2 is not something to be proud of...
