You don't necessarily need to see a lawyer. Everything you write is automatically protected by copyright ( in Canada, at least ). The burden then is to prove that you have written the document. Here is a trick learned in a class, 1. Print out the document you want to prove that you have written. 2. Sign every page. 3. Send it to yourself via registered mail. 4. Do NOT open the envelope. When somebody challenges that you have authored a document, you can use the sealed envelope to prove that you authored the document at that given date. Since it bears the stamp and date, you can at least show that you have created the documents in that day. If you have a website or dynamic content, you just update your envelopes periodically.

Companies like Electrovaya already supply #4, but it costs more and makes your portable computers less portable. I suspect many manufacturers shy away from these type of innovations because people want their stuff cheap. It is one of those nice-to-have things, but not if it means adding $200-$300 extra on each laptop ( specially if the Dell ones are to sell for $700-800 ).

Is that his original intent? I don't think anyone ever goes into blogging or site building ( outside of porn, maybe ) to make buckets and buckets of cash. It's just a consequence of a succesful site. I am building a site ( not a blog - since the format doesn't work well with the content ) to help men figure out the basics of a wardrobe and organize their closets. ( Plug - http://www.swaggerinc.com ). I find that having Amazon links and Google ads help subsidize the hosting fees. Your main purpose can be to help, but it doesn't mean that getting money for it is wrong...
