Others have pointed out that vaccines are madated by law in Europe much more strictly than (most places) in the US. That's true. It's also true that Europe was much quicker at banning Thimerosal (a preservative containing mercury) in vaccines, an area where the US is still behind.
Thimerosal hasn't been used in the US in more than a decade.
While I would certainly agree that "bird smacking" isn't that much of a problem, large windmills are moving pretty damned fast. The ones I've personally seen seem to move at 10 RPM. For a windmill with 120' blades that means the tips of the blades are traveling at over 85 MPH or nearly 125 feet a second (120' * 2 * 3.14 / 6). That's pretty much moving.
> Sound to me like U.S. wheat farmers are going to clean up this year.
Actually most US wheat farmers sold their crop for this year long ago. That's one of the reasons wheat prices are already through the roof. Most of the sales out there are people fighting over the small amount of wheat that is still available.
Farmers saw $7 wheat prices and sold as fast as they could. Never did they imagine that wheat would go over $10.
I thought Jobs did a pretty good job at the last shareholder's meeting of calling Greenpeace out. His comments about how others promise while Apple does are fairly true. Apple _does_ a lot more. They just don't promise the moon and then not deliver.
This might actually be a boon to Dish customers. I had their PVR a couple of years ago after having a DirectTV Tivo for years. I didn't even finish my one year contract before going back to DirectTV because the PVR was so lame. It might infringe on Tivo's patent but its no Tivo.
Their PVR for instance couldn't even been told to record a show regardless of when it was on for instance. You had to tell it "start at this time and stop at this time". It was nothing more than old school VCR timed recordings. And forget about it getting related material automatically for you.
If Dish actually has to license Tivo's code maybe they will have a much better PVR as a result.
75 watts should get the job done for a 15" Macbook Pro at least. I've been watching the power on my new one all day and it is pulling about 28 watts with the battery charged. It should do about twice that if it is having to charge the battery.

How long before another Kennedy clan arises, and we cheer as they crown themselves king?
Likely in another 18 months, 4 of the last 5 Presidents will be a sibling, spouse or child of one of the others (and maybe even two of the others).

They're privately owned.
They will be privately owned at this rate. This is a leveraged buyout.

I still think the Bill Atkinson story is the best example of how stupid lines of code is as a metric: http://www.folklore.org/StoryView.py?project=Macin tosh&story=Negative_2000_Lines_Of_Code.txt&sortOrd er=Sort%20by%20Date&detail=medium&search=lines%20o f%20code
